Since I've recently started using Marines again (haven't played them since 3rd edition), I noticed Drop Pods as a Transport option. Simple enough question, but where exactly are the rules for using Drop Pods detailed? I play Blood Angels, and they're nowhere in the PDF Codex. I do have the 5th Edition rulebook, so if it's in there I've missed it.

Could someone point me to where the rules explaining how to use Drop Pods are?

Thanks!

I was hoping it wouldn't be that- as a Blood Angel player I don't really have any use for the Codex I guess (as BA has their own).

Thanks anyway, hopefully the rules will be in future chapter-specific Codices.

Blood angels page 6 Inertial Guidance system. The drop pod and the unit it carries may always be placed in Reserves and enter play per the deep strike rules.

All the rules you need ARE in the PDF BA codex.

The Drop Pod has an entry under Dedicated Transport Vehicles giving its special rules. One of these is "Inertial Guidance System" which is then detailed in the "Blood Angels Wargear and Upgrades" table and shows the Drop Pod and occupants can enter via Deep Strike.

Blood Angels use their Rules Only. The BA Drop Pod Rules are actually Slightly Different from the SM rules which are different to the DA rules which are Different to the BT rules which are different to the SW rules.

Yay for GWs legendary consistency!

don't forget the Imperial Armor 2 rules (recently updated) which are also different from all of the above! yah, drop pod rules are a giant mess. unfortunately, the BA and DA get the worst of the lot as they pay more than anyone else for LESS (you pay 50pts IIRC and your drop pod is a BS2 with capacity 10 while regular marines get BS4 with capacity 12 for 35pts!) What could possibly fix this giant mess? two lines from GW in their next erratta (not FAQ as apparently those are just philosophical ponderings) stating that all drop pods are now *fill in the one here you think is most fair*.

Yep but then poor space wolve also fail to get a 12 seater drop pod (we all know its because of wolf guard)

while i agree the SW is inferior to the vanilla marine one, it's still better than the BA/DA one.

SW: 35pts, bs4, 10 seats
DA/BA: 50pts, bs2, 10 seats

i guess GW realized it was stupid to muck around with the transport capacities they've had in the game for 10+ years and are slowly reversing their decision.

to save gwar the trouble: yes, it's for the victory ale!
