In the other rule set, Tyranid biovores sucked. But, a couple days ago I decided i'd go buy another to pair up with my other one and after it was built, I used the duo. I battled Orks and gave the two biovores toxin mines. S=to opponents toughness AP 4. thanks to the 48 in. range, my opponents largest squad went below half strength before they even got near my gaunts. The old rules made it so you had to role to hit, then roll to see where the blast went, then roll to wound. These days, however, all you have to do is role to see how far the blast goes and then role to wound. They are great now.

It still is a penis canon. Once you see it you cannot unsee it.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

To keep this thread brief I will explain quite simply why biovores still suck

1. Spore mines give up KP's if they miss.
2. Taking biovores means taking less carnifexes.
3. Once you lose 2 wounds the unit is likely to run away (they sit at the back generally out of synapse range).

YMMV.

y'know, back in the old rules I used them in just about every battle and nothing happened because they couldn't hit to begin with. I think one game does prove that they're better than back in the day cuz for the first time in my two years, they killed stuff.

When you can 3 for a single heavy unit it doesn't really matter,
and though they die after two wounds, thats why you keep them away from the enemy or in cover. (after all, 48 inches is pretty far for a tyranid ranged weapon)
and I have to aggree on the KP problem. we'll just have to wait and see what they do to the biovores and sporemines when the new codex comes out.

blah blah blah......I love biovores.....I love them I don't care if the give KP's I play to have fun and Biovores and Spore Mines as a fast attack are so much fun, it's fun to have a goofy crazy unit even it it's not power-gamer enough.

blah blah blah

Did you have fun....it's really easy it's a yes or no question.

I must be one of about 5 people that like/love/use the Biovore.....I always have and will.
