Hello Dakkas,

Today I received a commission job to paint up a MK V British WWI Tank.

The customer wanted it to be of German origin.

Seeing as it's a German tank I'll be painting it gray and make it with German Iconography appropriate to it's time.

So here's my question: Did they Germans ever actually use the MK V(They were British Built so I'm just wondering)? Where were the iconography on the vehicle?

A joke for smart people:

So a man was eating a PbJ sandwhich when he died. What was his cause of death?

Lead Poisoning! Bwahahah!

Yes, the Germans used captured tanks. In fact, more so that their own rather dubious ones.

Here's a v good site on the subject, with several pictures showing German crosses on the captured tanks:

Hmm, in answer to your more specific question about the Mk V, I found this on that same site:

"They never captured any Mk V's"

I don't think they painted them grey either, they just marked them up with crosses. As you'll see in Slinky's links, all the captured british vehicles are still in camouflage.

Hey,

Just for representing the German side...

I know that the Germans had an own colour scheme (brown, grey and khaki (beige?) spots) for "Beutepanzer" (captured tanks) you can find it in Osprey's 'New Vanguard - German Panzers 1914 - 18'. The signs on captured tanks were something like the "Eisernes Kreuz" (ironcross) or later the "Balkenkreuze".

But I only know about captured Mark IV or privious types.

My vesrion of the colour scheme:

Hopefully, you can see anything...

Best regards

The C-K
