My store is doing a Pre-Heresy event on the 14th, and I took up the task of converting Sanguinius. Without further ado...

For the curious, the parts I used were the Night bringer body, the deceiver torso, the head and spear off the Daemon Huntress from the Inquisitor range, and the metal Pegasus wings. The green stuff was probably the hardest part for me, as I had never used it for sculpting before, only filling gaps. I'll try to get some better pictures tomorrow morning when its lighter out, and when hes painted of course.

The head looks too feminine.

Also, it doesn't really look like Sanguinius mainly because it's not wearing power armor...

It's an interesting conversion, but I have to agree that it doesn't really say 'Sanguinius'...

Needs some armour, and a sword (Sanguinius was mentioned to be a master swordsman in the older fluff... don't know if they've kept that in the books).

The head could probably work (it looks a fraction large, but that may just be the angle of the pics) but the hair is falling in completely the wrong direction. It should be flowing back in the same direction as the robes (which are a bit long to be practical for a master swordsman...)

Turning the head to face the other way would solve the hair problem. That does leave the arm pointing off to the side for no good reason though... It could possibly (with a little putty work on the joints) be repositioned across the body holding the weapon shaft.

I would also recommend sawing off the bottom half of the robes. Would make them a more practical length, and help to stop them from being so instantly recognisable as the bottom half of the Nightbringer.

I hope all of that wasn't too discouraging. Just trying to offer feedback on how he would work a little better for what you're after. You're of course welcome to completely disregard it as mad ravings.

I think if you do what insaniack mentioned, it would help it out alot. I like the head tho, he was supposedly incredibly beautiful to look at. But yea, insaniack has it pegged

I have to agree with Insaniak and the others.

This is a nice conversion but, for me, it seems to be a sculptural representation of Sanguinius and not the Primarch himself ...

... What I mean is, it looks like a statue you'd find in a chapel dedicated to Sanquinius.

Good work, though !!

1) @ warboss spinewitza that comment was completely inapropriate part of this reason i use this forum instead of others is because there are less people that make useless comments like that

2) back to the OP I like the modle it sort of looks like he is in midflight but the upper body could use power armor and a sword IMO would be a better fit than a staff

Thanks to all for the C and C, the spear was used in the interest of saving money as it came with model that the head is from, but I do agree that a sword would be better.

I wasn't a fan of the inquisitor space marine, so keeping that in mind, where would you get the power armor for him?

You could have a go at adding the armour over the existing body with putty. It doesn't need to be as bulky as regular Marine armour, although should be esigned along similar lines. Have a look at Commander Dante for inspiration on the armour design.

Otherwise, there was a Chaos champion or somesuch int he Inquisitor range wearing power armour that was less chunky than the Inquisitor Marine model. With any Chaos symbols removed, that might be a good starting point for torso and arms.

Sanguinius used a spear, its call ed oddly enough, The Spear of Sanguinius, its a spear that recognises the blood that flows through the the blood angels and can fire out a huge psychic fire that only affects non-lineage people.

Great model but I agree with everyone else. It doesn't look too much like sanguinus.

Oh and in the blood angel books, they find sanguinus' spear which was really powerful and stuff. I dunno if he had other weapons as well in other fluff but...

Hope this helps

edit: oh poo, I posted before I read the above post.
