She is about 5'6", blonde, German and currently the undisputed Queen of Metal.

Angela Gossow, frontwoman of Arch Enemy.

Last night, I was at an AE concert, in the depth of the moshpit, no more than 5 or 6 metres from the stage. Angela was wearing skintight black leather pants. It was a good night.

I highfived Jonathan Cooke from Winds of Plague as well.

I rocked out to Suffocation, when for the last couple of weeks I have been dreading their set. They were awesome live.

Anyway, that's what I did last night. Anything interesting happen to anyone else?

I envy you being so close to such a metal goddess. Her and the front woman for Otep could do whatever the hell they wanted to do to me.

Ah, I remember my first moshpit, it was at the VFW hall, somewhere around 1984. The band was local, don't remember the name, perhaps it was Mortal Reign, I saw them live lotsa times. Enjoy it while you're young. Once the knees go, you're just a roadblock to someone younger and on better drugs.

Slight problem Fateweaver. Otep Shamaya would be more interested in Angela Gossow than you

Oh gods there is pain. Nothing else but pain.

It hurts so awesomely.

A man can dream of Otep and Angela Gossow yes.

Throw in Simone Simmons there too, and you have a good night at home alone

Forever alone

We never have metal concerts here.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I remember my first "pit",it was at a ShellShock/Legion of Decency (local bands then) show back in 1986,since then I've charged headlong into thousands of moshpits and had a ball in every one, still carring a nice scar across my forehead from a stage diving mishap at a Pantera show..ahh good times.

I loved the moshpit at Amon Amarth in Vancouver. So many people were smoking pot in that stadium that there was like a cloud around the band. But other then that was a great night.

My first mosh was at a concert put on by the ONLY metal station in Minnesota. 93X Fest. They normally had 3-4 big name bands and then local bands to open the show. That particular time the 3 big ones were Pantera, Static-x and System of a Down.

Those were good times. Got a broken nose during Static's performance. That sucked having to go to the ER and miss the rest of the show though.

I am seriously considering going to Lamb of God/Devildriver/Shadows Fall in december.

I am in love with Devildriver, and Lamb of God is supposed to be one of the best live metal acts there is.

GWAR! Is playing on the 16th over here. Wondering whether it's worth the cost, concerts these days are getting expensive. I saw Skinny Puppy a few years ago, and missed them this time around due to being piss broke. Damn being a student.

Once again a great live band,I've seen GWAR over a dozen times ( first time way back in 1989),they always put on an over the top stage show, and lets face it GWAR rocks, plus their pretty damn hilarious too.
I will warn you however, DO NOT wear any clothing you particularly care about if you plan to be with in 50 feet of the front of the stage,as they will be soaked in fake blood (and other bodily fluids/semi solids) by the end of the show,I still have a jacket that "bleeds GWAR juice" in the rain, and that's from 6 years ago.

My first moshpit experience was '94 (I think) at the Annandale hotel in Sydney. Sadistik Execution were playing.

Some yob threw a schooner (beer glass smaller than a pint but larger than a half) - empty - glass at Dave Slave the bassist.

Dave stopped playing, calmly put his bass down, stagedived into the pit to grab the miscreant by the throat and dragged him into the mens room for an immediate and painful "attitude readjustment" (ie pounded seven shades of sh^t out of him) before returning to the stage and continuing to play as if nothing had happened.

That was rather extreme.

Next one was Ministry at BDO '95.
Awesome set. Skins to one side, punks to other, ne'er the twain to meet. When they started, the pack surged, and scattered them to minimise any damage.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

YES IT IS, go or I'll fething kill you!

I've never been myself but feth would that be something to do before I die. I'd take FITZZ's advice though, everyone who's apparently ever been to a GWAR concert says the same thing.

Anyway, am I the only one who interrupted the thread title in a very different and more disturbing way?

I also heard Rammstein was another good live show. Not that it can rival GWAR, but there's an assload of fire involved.

The most violent mosh pit I have ever been in was surprisingly at a Saliva concert at an indoor venue.

At least 30 people went to the hospital. Fortunately I was not one of them.

Then there was Biohazard. MFers had razors. Never moshed at a hardcore(-ish) concert ever again.

Best one I was in was for Soulfly/Static-X. That was great.
