By the will of Mork and Gork, I have come into the possession of several boxes of burnas/lootaz. I'm thinking of running the below list, but I can't decide between Burnas or Lootaz:

HQ
1 Big Mek, KFF, Burna + 3 Grot Oilers

Elites
3 units of 15 Lootaz/Burna Boyz

Troops
23 Shoota Boyz with Nob + PK

22 Shoota Boyz with Nob + PK

Heavy Support
3 Battlewagons with RPJ, Grot Riggers, Armour Plates and Kannons

Total Points 1.495

Any help on the Fire Vs. Lead debate would be greatly appreciated.

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.

From my experience running with Lootas and Burna Boyz, a battlewagon is a must for either (which it looks like that's how you have it set up). With the Lootas you get a 14 armor shell parked in terrain for a +4 cover save...and with the Burnaz you tank shock the enemy to bunch them up, lay the template down and it's models covered x 15. It just depends if you want a shooting army or an assaulting army. I'm a huge fan of burna boyz over lootas. I'd much rather have like 72 roll to wounds, than 15-45 dice that need 5s to hit.

In 1500 I would run only 1 squad of either Lootas or Burna Boyz. Use those 450pts to add in more troops in wagons and trukks. The orks' strengths are their troops (boyz are amazing). You need squads and squads of them.

This is just a retyping of previous post attempt, my browser crashed halfway through the last attempt, but I'm building this as a Shitz and Gigglez list rather than something to take to the store/tournament.

Yep....

either lootas or burnas. They're both awesome.

If you're trying to decide which to assemble, pick one, and eventually use regular ork boyz to assemble the others.

If you take burnas, and an opentopped transport... you can place them all over a squad after you hit them with a deff roller... wipe them off the board. On the other hand, if you take lootas with an opentopped transport, you can shoot them all from the safety of wherever you want.

Thats what I'm trying to decide, so far I'm leaning towards Burnas but the 48" range of massed lootaz is difficult to ignore.

I'm usually fighting on a rectangular table about 3'9" X 5'10" so I think burnas are probably better for Dawn of War games, but a frequent game we play is 2 defenders V 3 attackers with a single objective at one end and the Attackers having to cross 5 feet in 6 turns or more. Long-range guns really make it easier in that format.

Both are great units. I am partial to burnas because of the style I like to play. Your best solution is to do like Dashofpepper said and get some extra boyz sprues and assemble both lootas and burnas and be able to use whichever you like in any given battle.

Hmmm.. how about two units of lootas, placed on seperate corners in the battle wagons. A unit of burnas sitting in a wagon in the center.

On round one, burnas move up to crash into whoever is there, lootas and shoota boyz open up on everything else. He has to deal with both.

Of course, 3 burna mobs in BW's is just nasty.. make sure you've got deffrollas.

THanks, I've decided on the Burnas for now. And will somehow scrap together enough boyz for 45 Lootas.
