I posted my 1st attempts at painting minis a while back, and just wanted to post my finished *[they arent based, but I dont have materials on me to do that...so until I get basing stuff, they are done]* chaos space marines. It has taken me exceedingly long to do these between law school and the new baby the wife and I had 3 weeks ago.

The technique isnt exactly the same the whole way through, as I was learning as I went. I think I found a product I am happy with by the time I got to the champ. Also, I know the ends of the bolters arent drilled out...anyone know where a guy could procure one of those little hand drills? Welcoming any critiques/criticisms/comments before I dive into my possessed (I know maybe they arent great in game, but I cant wait to paint them).

*There used to be one more, but he lost an arm in the Great Beagle Attack of '09.

like the colors only thingand it's minute would be maybe highly the black a little onthe shoulders. If it is my bad must be the photos. I loved the skull helment it's my favorite of that box, and you did a great bone paint job on it. Cool color scheme keep up the great work.

P.S Ifully understand your horror on suprise animal attakcs. My forge world games day model from 08 came under assault from a violent chihuahuah attack followed by a min pin tornado. Was tragic I tell ya tragic, but since WE HAVE LEARNED.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Thanks for all the replies, good sirs. Ya, I noted the barrel thing, but I dont have a little hand drill, and I dont think I want to take a power tool to something that small. Anyone know where I could procure good (see: cheap) tool for that?

I tried to highlite the black shoulders on one, and it turned out looking terrible, so I just repainted over it. I clearly either do not know how to highlite black, or how to highlight on a rounded surface like the shoulders. Any tips on that would be greatly appreciated.

-and yeah, I was really pleased with the way the bone helmet turned out, thanks for the nod

If these are your 1st attempt then I applaud you as they are great for a first run! Keep it up and continue to learn.
I didnt see a answer to your Pin Vice question I would recomend the P3 one due to the fact that it can hold almost any bit on the market. I had another companys and it is now used to hold figures for primeing.

Very nice I love the purple scheme and don't worry about the beagle attack my cats literally steal my minis and hide them some times along with bottle caps and shiny things.

Thanks for the heads up on the pin vise(s). Ill check Lowes/Home Depot, or Michaels, if all else fails, Ebay. At least I know what its called now.

Also, anyone out there know how / can give tips on highlighting black on a round surface (ie, shoulders)?

Black lends itself well to extreme highlights; paint a mix of shadow grey and black at the bottom of the shoulder pads, followed by pure shadow grey at the top.
