Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Hey folks!

I clean up well enough in my geographic area at all the stores I can get to, but I'd like to participate in bigger events. I had read about the Big Waaaugh! only after it happened, and don't even know what events and GTs are going on and where, and how to find out about them. I poked around the GW website but didn't see anything useful. I live in eastern North Carolina...I'd like to meet strangers and play 40k with them, and play for stakes higher than part of everyone's $5 entry fee in store credit.

How far are you willing to travel? Adepticon is about as big as they come http://www.adepticon.org/cart/ if your able to travel to Chicago.

If not, read up on Bell of Lost Souls. They seem to cover most of the major tournaments.

Adepticon is probably too much to bite off for my first attempt at something bigger than a local event. I'd like something in driving distance...something I could drive to on a Friday night after work, and drive home from Sunday night? 4-5 hours, although I don't know if that's realistic or not.

I'm poking around the BoLS website right now; is there a schedule somewhere?

I haven't seen any type of tournament schedule for North America posted anywhere. GW doesn't host GT's anymore so everything is completely run by independent organizers. Where abouts in Canada are you located? I know there's supposed to be a decent tournament in NY someplace, hosted by DaBoyz I think. Also I seem to remember hearing about something in the Seattle area, but the name or dates elude me.

To see the events that they had last year, almost all of them will be back for next year.

I heard a rumor that they will start next year’s tournament circuit in May. They said that it is because they wanted it to coincide with GW's financial year, but I do not see the relevance of that. I would think that they would want to start it in May to that they can finish the year at Adepticon.

The one downside is that I have no faith in GW at all to even remember the tournament circuit next year.

Bell of Lost Souls will have coverage of a few tournaments. Another place to look at is the GW website under "Community and Events" While a little far from you I found Sooiepalooza in Arkanas in January as well as Coast Con in Mississippi in March.

I don't know if there will be a tournament circit in 2010, as things like BOLSCON pop up while other events like the Necro are out next year.

In Seattle we are having Conquest NW Indy GT in January, but we also have things like OFCC in Oregon, TSHIFT in Seattle, and a ton of other tounaments.

In general it seems that most GT level events take place in California, Illinios, Texas, or Florida.

Another good way to find events is to read the "events" section of White Dwarf.

Yeah it would be nice if GW supported the Idependents with a webpage dedicated to posting whether you are having a tourney at your convention.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

What I have heard about the new Indy Circuit is it will tie in with their May schedule but the new circuit will run from January next year to May the following year. This sounds perfect to me since events like Adepticon that run early should be included.

I believe there will be some announcement on the GW site soon that will cover the details about Indy Circuit Events. The new crew have been hard at work to make sure they can do the best with promotions and I am eager to see their plans succeed.

There is a list of tournaments being updated in the Schedule a Game area here on DakkaDakka:

If you are in NC and want a close event there are a few options. MiniCon which ran in October and there are many events in the Virginia area. Check out the Iron Fist League for more info.

awww...damn it.

Their next tournament in the east coast is on December 5th, but requires your army to be flocked. While my army is all painting, flocking is another story. ><

Flocking is quick and easy! Get a couple buddies over, buy some beer and voila! You could spend a day and do it on your own, but I like the option that includes alcoholic bevies.

Dec 5th is plenty of time to get the flocking done!

The more larger tournaments that you go to you'll find that to be in the running for any of the prizes besides best Sportsmanship or best general you'll have to have a well painted fully based army. I've also seen Best General tie and come down to sportsmanship more then once.

So get those figuries flocked!
