Can't have 2 characters with the same magic item (Enchanted Shield); can't give a Liche Priest a shield anyway. I'll let someone else who's more familiar with Tomb Kings to comment on the rest.

i dunno im new to fantasy but im pretty sure that you can take 2 chracters both with the same common magic item. Liche priests profile does not state it cannot take an enchanted shield, you can just model it.

You can't give a Wizard a Magic Weapon or Magic Armour, unless it can be equipped with the same mundane weapon or mundane armour.

BRB pages 120 and 121 will back up me and Airmaniac- second column p.120 for "no duplicates" and p.121 first column under "Magic Armour", 3rd paragraph for no armour on a Liche Priest.

Heavy Horse: I'd leave 'em at home. All they really are is a M8 skeleton. S4 for heavy cavalry is pathetic, IMHO.

Either buff up those Tomb Guard or go home. 10 won't do anything but waste points. Even just 5 more would be so much more helpful, IMHO.

Yes, you cannot give your Liche an Enchanted Shield, and you cannot take the same magic item twice in an army.

SweatyDemon, we both said the exact same thing (No Magical Shield allowed on the Liche Priest as he can't take a mundane shield)....

Here is the list I would take if I wanted to do well at 1000 points.

Prince, LA, Sp, Sh, Chariot
Priest, Casket of Souls
Priest (heiro), cloak of the dunes

11 Archers
10 Archers
4 Carrion
Tomb Scorpion
Tomb Scorpion

Strengths: Magical Dominance; Consistent small arms fire. Plenty of mobility and march blocking.
Weaknesses: no static combat res at all, something I wouldn't be without at 2000.

General Plan: Use the bowmen and casket to soften the enemy, reducing their static combat res over time. The Prince and Scorpions work together to overcome enemy forces. The carrion either marchblock or tackle war machines.

The main races i will be faced against are skaven and vampire counts. This gives fear a huge advantage(except over vampire counts). my plan against skaven is to engage plague monks in close combat for the entire game. i hope to cause fear and make them hit on a 6+. my liche priest has the job of keeping people alive.

You need 2 or more core units.

My 1000 pt list:

Heroes:
Prince, Cloak of Dunes, Great Weapon, either collar of shapess -or- brooch of the desert.

Priest- Skeletal Steed, either hieractic jar and scroll or staff or ravening (if the prince takes the brooch).

Core:
21 Skelly Bowmen w/ banner undying legion
10 Skelly Bowmen
5 Light Cav
1 Swarm (the poor mans tomb scorpion)

Special:
3 Carrion
3 Chariots

Rare:
Screaming Skull Catapult

This list can win in a battle of attrition, it has the numbers (and the banner), it can out-shoot most opponents and keeps the magic pressure on with the incantations and bound items.
The place were it lacks is in magic defense... my borther took a HE army with 2 lv 2 wizards in it... and I did struggle, at the end of the day, superior tactics won out, but barely. With only the 3 dispel dice it can be tricky and you really have to pick and choose what to dispell against a magic heavy army.

The chariots are great, because they have good mobility and can hit like a tonne of bricks.

you can't take broach with cloak of dunes fyi, they are both enhacnted items. staff of ravening may be better for you than a dispel scroll as in 1k points 3 dispel dice should be enough and the extra offensive power from the staff owns most things taken in that low points limit and boosts your own magic phase by tons.

Casket @ 1000 isn't a great idea, and especially not if you've just got 1 liche (your heirophant no less) to sit on it. The skull-chucker is much preferred, as it can function without being babysat, and doesn't kill itself if left alone. Also cheaper, and perhaps more effective? You can't dispel a catapult hit (but it can break itself ...)

Rest of the list is tasty. 16 skeletons is pretty weak for fighters, I'm guessing they have bows? And only 14 tomb guard? If you trimmed those bowmen down to 2x 10, you should be able to afford some more guard, preferably around 20-strong with the prince in there.

Also, armor of the ages and e.shield are both magic armors. I say stick with AotA and pick up a mundane shield in case you don't feel like lumberjacking with the gw.

Because they're frenzied, plague monks won't need to test for fear when charging or being charged by your undead. You could autobreak him though if you win and outnumber, which is another reason for investing in a larger guard block

right.. still new to fantasy. Got to remember all those restrictions on the magic items... because it works like a dispell scroll I was confused and hence used it as a dispel scroll, (as in multiples...)

For smaller games (1000pts), I do not think that the tomb scorp is really needed for anti warmachine hunts I have found a swarm does the job for half the cost. The large block of tomb guard is good. But I would drop 4 of them, (plus the 40 you save on the scorp) and get more archers into one unit this will give you another larger block, that you can use to tarpit enemy units and flank them... with the tomb guard

You don't need to use the Scorp for Anti-Warmachine alone. It's a good unit overall, and in every game my opponent has fielded it he hasn't regretted it. You can use it to hunt Wizards, Flank combat units, etc.

Why use archers to tarpit, when Tomb Guard do just as well if not better? Tomb Guard have a better save, they'll be sticking around more often.

i dont no 7th edition at all coz i have 6th and in sixth ur only allowed to use 1 magic weapon and it dozent say anything about magic armour doing the same thing.
