Been awhile sence I have seen a good Space Marine list that would actually do well in a tourny, wanted to post this to see what yall think.

melta/plasma cannon/razor back each
Broken into combat squads

Heavy
3x 5man Devastator=450pts
4x missiles each

Elites
2x 5man Sternguard=370pts
5x Combi-meltas/Drop pod each

10x Assualt Terminators=400pts
6x TH/SS 4xLC

Honestly, seems very soft @ 2.5k.

Those terminators will die fast without a transport, and the 5 razorbacks being your only armor will go down first turn every game IMO.

There is not a single part of the army I like to be honest.

Seems like you would be able to defend pretty well but would have a hard time penitrating enemy lines IMO

as I pointed out in another thread, watch out for the ripple effect when GW FAQs the SW dex... when the language "counts as troops" will officially mean "counts as a troops choice" then Pedro won't need Tac Squads anymore!!!

I fought a list similar to this, only with more sternguard and less tactical squads. It didnt do very well. I would beat it with my necrons.

Also, this list is weak stuff at 2.5k. 5 Razorbacks and 2 Pods? Footslogging/Deep Striking ASSAULT Termies? No, no, no. No. No, no. No, no. Never.

Also - Devastators? Only Space Wolves can run Heavy Support full of Missiles and win. You pay way too much for them to do anything worthwhile - their ideal target is half their points!

Overall, not a very powerful list. Can't decide if it wants to be Mech, or not.

3x LR + EXTRA ARMOUR 3x265

and take 10 man sternguard but give them combi flamers ....

don't take assault nators but take a 10 man normal nator squad with 2 cyclone missile launchers .....

OPlasma cannon melta combo isn't the best, or to be frank with the new rules PC sucks fairly bad.... 2D6-4 Scatter anyone?

also you might want to include a 10 man scout squad just for the psycological effects this has on all low morale enemies + gread for sniping high toughness stuff....

Honestly, all the tournaments I have been to a Space marine player ended up winning. Must be the players you are with.

Your list is very soft. I could probably kill that list with my 2k tau mech army.

You need to do some drop pods or landraiders. Hell if you take out enough throw in a vindicator.

Space Marines play in mid-field tables at larger tournaments these days.
I second the above posters that the list is semi-competitive.

The marine lists that i watch get posted daily makes my nuts hurt tell you mom to stop giving me the clap.lol Holy gak I actually seen a post saying i needed preds LMFAO and hordes would eat me? lol maybe 5 twin linked heavy bolters and 12 blast templates along with 10 models that would pierce armor and wound 2+ and seriously, F'ing whirlwinds you people were dropped. I'm also guessing you think thunderfire cannons are good. lolololololol The land raider is the only thing i agree with and that's only because of play style, honestly I never take them they blow up on me too much

Terrrible, absolutely terrible. You dont need fifty marines, its silly and a waste of points. Plasma cannons aint good on tac squads.

These squads suck. There expensive, vulnerable to small arm fire and will be left behind with five other small marine squads to get destroyed by random small arm fire.

2x 5man Sternguard=370pts
5x Combi-meltas/Drop pod each

One squad will drop in turn one, unsupported and vulnerable. The other squad will drop in and a fully mech competitive army will just ignore them. Waste of points.

10x Assualt Terminators=400pts
6x TH/SS 4xLC

Crap, there footslogging, I'l just ignore them, too slow to catch my mech army.


I could beat this army with a 2000pt army, probaly beat it with 1750pts.

Hang around for a bit and your find that your list is utterly crap.

Loota spam will kill you, Dual lash will kill you, any well-built guard list with kill you, any well built list will beat you.

Not all of your assault terminators can wound vehicles, some have LC's. Thunder Hammers cant kill AV14, your only anti-tank is 10x Combi-meltas and some gakky squads of ML's.

Now, which units do you possess that will hit, and wound 100% of the time? As, at 2500, I don't believe any army can wound "50 foot-sloggers", especially after blowing up "just 7 vehicles". Well, it's a rare army I suspect. It would have to shoot correct? Well, the current mass-fire shooting armies are guard and tau. Of course, their hit and wound ratio isn't quite 100%. So which army can wound and hit 100% and slay an entire army in one turn?
