I guess the title sort of sums it up. I'm not sure if putting a killkannon on my 2 battlewagons is really worth it. Your imput.

The str7 really lets them down imo- difference between that and a Looted tank boomgun/leman russ cannon ( str 8 ap3) is instant deathing FNP plague marines. Str7 ap3 is good against MEQs out of cover... key word being "out". str 7 won't penetrate as many AV11-12 vehicles, which seem to be a common value for transports. They are kinda average, shine best against MEQs and reduce the cargo capacity of your transport.
...then again pie plates are fun to play with, and orkses is all abouts blowing fings up I'd run 'em in a shooty ork list for the AP 3 and experiment, see how i like them. If i were to do a choppy list, i'd probably leave 'em behind

The short answer....
No, they aren't worth it. At the very least, they cut your transport capacity down to 12. If you're packing Lootas as a shooting platform, you're gimping yourself. If you're using it as a mobile platform to deliver close range death, you're gimping yourself, plus it won't be shooting because you're moving 12" per turn. I wouldn't bother.

The long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo The battlewagon might have good armor values, but if you try to turn it into a main battle tank you will be let down by the short range and poor strength of it's ordinance gun. It can only be made into a mediocre combat tank at best, it shines much better as a combat transport, and the killkannon makes it worse at that job, not better. If you want to run an orky battletank, grab a looted wagon, it makes a better battletank ( better than the killkannon wagon does anyways.) Edit: Or fill the wagon with S8 AP3, on the whole that will actually work out to be more reliable :3, 15 rokkits from a tankbusta group will hit 5 times (average), the killkannon could just as easily completely scatter off target and hit absolutely nothing.

I use one Battlewagon as a "shooty" wagon (the others are transports),so it's loaded down with a killkanon,a kanon,rokkitz...basicly I use it (when I use it) as a MEQ hunter/fire magnet.

I think it should be 8 for insta kill on marines, however it almost insta kill. You fire it and have a 50 percent chance of the template not moving at all. Remeber you will be wounding on 2 and they get no armor save. Its really nice in my book.
The problem is people use the battlewagon to get boyz across the field, but you can fill it with lootas and shoot 12 of them with a bw with a killakannon. If you shooty it up thats 1 str7 ap3 1 st5 ap5 template, 12 str5 big shoota shots, and possible 36 str 7 ap 4 attacks.
better than a battle wagon when you use it like that.

You can't shoot Ordanance and other weapons so you can't shoot the Big shootas on it
Also i have no idea where you get a 50% chance of the template not moving at all

Not really. Certainly dont put one on both as it reduces thier transport which is one of the BW hilights. I think its better to take a looted wagon with a boomgun.

... 50% sounds a bit high for orks ... lets check
1/3 and BS2
only scatter ...
0" 38/108 35.1%
1" 42/108 38.8%
2" 48/108 44.4%
3" 56/108 51.8%
.. or less
Then again 3" to an ork would be a spot on hit ^_^

The reason I consider it is that it's one of the only large templates the orks get, and I don't like looted wagons, as you spend many points on a gun that can be eally easily destroyed.
