I've already googled around for "Citadel-to-Vallejo" conversion/comparison charts, and all of them tell me that Vallejo Model Color #910 "Orange Red" is the equivalent.

Going by this information, I've purchased VMC#910, only to discover that it's a very different color!

Citadel's "Blood Red" is more red than orange, but Vallejo's "Orange Red" is more orange than red.

Could someone recommend (preferably from experience) a better equivalent for Blood Red?

Hey there. I´ve been using #909 "Vermillion" with good results, but I´ve recently switched to #908 "Carmine".

Of the two, #909 is probably closer to blood red, but I like the finish that 908 gives me.

However, it should be mentioned that the model colors seem softer than GW´s colors, so I don´t think there is a perfect match for them... Vallejo Game Color might be closer I think, but I don´t have any handy at the moment...

Vallejo Game Colours are almost a 1:1 match to GW colors and have similar naming to help people convert over

The closest is Vallejo Game Color Bloody Red ...but I just recently had them side by side on my pallet and they are still very different. GW Blood Red does seem to have a little Orange in it to brighten it up... and the Vallejo Bloody Red has more of a 'flesh' hue that lightens it up.

Better than either color is Reaper Master Series Blood Red. I also really like the Vallejo Game Color Gory Red for a a slightly darker red, and the Reaper MS Deep Red for shadows.

Using the Color Match 1.0 site VMC Scarlet is close assuming you want to stay within the VMC range

Err... now I feel stupid

Anyway I'm going to pick up both #909 Vermillion and #908 Carmine to see which I like better.

Thanks for the recommendations!
