I'm new to Dakka, and am mainly interested in Warhammer for the novels, but there is something i've been wondering about.

Alright, here we have our Ork base. Drunken boyz, meks messing with theyr newest things, grots and snotlings running about and everything. The meks are making guns and vehicles, but what about ammo? ammo can be made in crude ways, but surely not enuff to keep dem boysz ork-u-pied for mor den 2 minuts. and what about tires, fuel lines and that kind of stuff? Do the grots have factory complexes behind the battle line? Even tho all the grots were at it, we all know that the Orks keep shooting even if there is not target, or if it is far out of the reach of their weapons.

does anyone know anything about this?

They do use human factories and slave labor so I would imagine that is where a lot of that comes from. And the waaagh (the pyskic energy Orks generate) allows alot of thier tec to work if its missing parts, ammo, and fuel.

Well maybe not the ammo, your right about their psychic abilities making things work, but they do have to have ammo, otherwise the guns empty.
But the grots would be able to make ammo and help build weapons, Orks use them kind of like apprentices. But yes, slaves and trade agreements from other planets and such. They dont ALWAYS have to make and build things. Usually they just take things and bully people to get what they want.

First off, I am sure Orks and Grots have the ability to make all the gunz and ammo they want - especially under the direction of a Mek or another Oddboy. You're right, though, that Orks can't wait to use it, whether it is in battle or in macho contests amongst themselves. How do they get enough??? - a valid question.

Yes, Orks love taking over human manufactoriums and raiding worlds just to get the ammo. In fact, Orks would rather do this than make the stuff, I am sure, since it is more exciting!!! Orks with time on their hands are always likely preparing for the next Big Battle. Anticipation of the next WAAGGHH is probably the ONLY thing that prevents Orks from using up ALL their ammo in one go, though if they do, I am sure they are pleased enough to go into battle with just Choppas, Chainsaws, and Fists!

Orks are not just stupid thugs (tho they DO love their Fungus Beer) - they are cunning. So you bet they're planning ahead. To an Ork, anything is a weapon - heck, some Grot Weapons are little more than a crude rifle filled with rocks instead of bullets!

Hinrik, I see it is your first post, so welcome to DAKKA! And I hope you are also a big Ork Fan, because Orkses are THE BEST! WAAGGHH!

I would either Be an Ork or a Tau. Tau can hang around practically anybody, which is cool (i liek to visit diffrent cultures), and Orks don't get burdened by philosiphy. " Wuts fun? KILLIN! Wut is we gon' do? KILLIN!" if i would be assured of reincarnation, i would want to be an Ork, to them war is a game, something fun to do.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I think you're missing something important...

If you're an Ork, where you get ammo from isn't a concern. Its outside your sphere of worry. If you don't have ammo, you kick a gretchin and it shows up. If your trukk is missing a tire, you kick a gretchin. If your trukk breaks down, you stuff a gretchin into the engine compartment and then crank it up while laughing uproariously.

Does anyone have the comic where the Mek teaches boyz to make shootas out of string and paperclips?
That's how orks work.

There was a comic called Deff Skwadron (my avvy is from there :3 ) that was about da boyz, specifically the flyboyz of Deff Skwadron.

Example of Ork Tactics: "Alright boyz that's enuf, if we kill em' all now we won't have any ta kill later."

Edit: And you can bet that any respectable warboss is going to have a Mek and his workshop of mekboyz cranking out gear for his warband.

I've read Deff skwadron over and over, and i want more, MORE! hehe, i wonder since there is an oil squig, food squid, many kinds of fighting squigs, is there a bullet squig (=. lol. but seriously, an Grot manufacturing complex would make a hell of a sightseeing trip. (english is not my first language, so i don't know what they call it when tourists check out factories, distilleries and gak) hehe, i love this profanity changer, i wonder whether feth turns into feth. HAH KNEW IT! Dan Abnett ftw.
