Hey all!

I've been looking at making a Marine Biker army, however I am not too fond of the Attack Bike models. As a result, I am looking at various conversion ideas. (As a side note, I'm planning on using Ravenwing Battleforces to make the army, so those are the main bits I've got to work with.)

I've been considering converting Land Speeders into "Attack Buggies" and I found some good pics on Google. I am a little bit stumped as to where I could find some wheels for them though. Also, I'm a bit worried that they'll be too big to use as Attack Bikes...

Another option I've been considering is getting Ork Wartraks and putting a Marine driver on it, and a Heavy Weapons Marine standing in the back. I have one of these that I converted up a few years back and it looks fairly good, but kinda (go figure) orky.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

you will have all the bitz you need(attack bike+bike for the wheels) so you could use the chasis as a jet bike that sammul dude.

You can try eBay for bike bits, or internet sites like TheWarStore and see what they have as far as wheels go.

Look at modern military FAVs 'Fast Attack Vehicle'. Its little more than a dune buggy with several machine guns attached, but you'll get lots of ideas I'm sure.

I've seen (in a couple places now.. but no idea where) a nice conversion to make a bike into a quad. I'm pretty sure they used it as an attack bike. But you'd have to look around for it.. I really have no idea where I've seen it..

Frankly I can't stand the standard space marine attack bikes.

/shrug.
They look 'ok' meh...for the original bikers, their lowness has saved their hides more often than not.

That would be cool...ish. I'm not very keen about Halo/40K crossovers...but the idea is cool...

If you do the bikes in Akira that would be so cool. Kanadea's bike could be the squad leader

the ahlo model is awesome and would make a brillant center peice for a bike lord however doesnt work as a attack bike idea.

the idea of a attack bike it to hit into enemy armour or heavy troops. its a wasp in the face of a gaint.

that i mind what ever varaint you choose to have on the STC, bluid some fluff to go around why the desgin is so different. eg enemy terrain, a lose of the STC for loacal forge world, a capaingn modification that stuck.

Hmm... Lots of good ideas. I have done some quads in the past and they turned out pretty well, however I really like the dune buggy style. Perhaps if I chop a land speeder down somewhat I can make a decent buggy.

One thing I am worried about is if I make the buggy style, will it be too much "vehicle" and not enough "bike" for gameplay purposes?

If you want to go for the dune buggy look, the Halo 3 McFarlane range includes a super Warthog model which could almost be used straight out of the box.

Halo 3 Warthog and Brute Chopper (McFarlane models) compared with a Hammerhead and a Beaky plastic SM.

The 3 red ones are mine. They are screwed together, and are really easy to take apart for re-spraying and painting. The feet of the sentinel crew only required a little trimming to get them in, though I suspect that getting a marine in there will require more fettling.
