what happened to the strength of the second edition chaos army, they army seem weaker in the 5th edition? why is it that we have a 4th addition codex for a 5th edition rule book? also why did g.w. sell the codex as a 5th edition and what happened to all the legions? is there a 5th addition codex coming out for chaos?

Sorry but GW is very wonky with their release of codices and yes the alot of things have been nerfed but hasnt stopped me from from playing my Thousand sons. Welcome to dak dak¡¿¡¿¡¿

Good ole Chaos!
They usually release a new Chaos codex about every 5 years-so we need to wait about 3-4 years hopefully (Last dex was released in 07). The fact that they took away alot of the old stuff sucks, but us Chaos guys gotta get by 
You can still make quite a fluffy, albeit not tourney-wiining (In most cases) list. Anyway, welcome to dakka-hope you enjor your time here

thanks for the info i ve never noticed the 5 year in between period. but we are playing with a 5th edition rulebook and chaos has a 4th edition codex. one of my friends use the neckrons and his codex is a third edition and a friend who uses the eldar, his codex is also a third edition so if their codex is this certain edition can i use my third edition codex for chaos with my 5th edition rules

I think the 4th ed Chaos codex got released shortly before the upgrade or shortly after the upgrade to 5th so it is the 5th codex. Hopefully they fix it up a bit and release a proper 5th ed one that at least lets you have a proper Chaos army.
