I voted Manticore. Probably better to put this in 40k tactics, though. PM a mod to get it moved if you're bothered.

Manticore. It's hard to avoid it's templates.

Deathstrike is largely pointless in such small points, as it takes a while to actually fire, and in the meantime is sitting there waiting for the enemy to knack it.

Manticore. You have to roll a D6 for the Deathstrike to even see if it can shoot and it's a one-shot affair... and both are S10.

Why are those the only two models? Why not a LRT of some sort? Or a colossus? Otherwise, I voted manticore.

Wrong Forum. Also, a manticore is way better.

The Manticore is better than the Deathstrike in any competitive measure.

Manticore.
Deathstrike is patently stupid. Medium armor, minimum range, one shot, 4-6 inch radius... all a very iffy choice for a low points league.

The manticore isn't a significantly superior option. Fragile, and a high priority target with an even larger minimum range.

Without an Idea of the rest of your army, I'd hazard a suggestion of a Sentinel squadron, or trying to squeeze another Heavy weapon and Special weapon squad into your list.

I read that the Deathstrike has a 4-6" blast RADIUS.
That makes it a lot more funny than the Manticore in my opinion.

Deathstrike is the obvious choice!!!

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Except that you can't fire it when you want to, and can only fire it once at all... That and the manticore has always been one of my favourite IG tanks to boot. Katyusha MRLs are my favourite real-life military vehicle, incidentally.

Manticore, its fairly reliable, can frontload its damage and can fire its shots when you want it to.
Unpredictable units are fun but can be frustrating with the lack of control they have.

Manticore hands down.

I scatter so much with my shooting that a Deathstrike would be a huge risk and usually a waste of points. At least the Manticore gives me the possibility of a few more templates to make up for my ridiculous scatters.

Good psychological weapon, however.

The Deathstrike is the only way to kill models in games that you're not even playing. It's easily the superior choice.

Manticore, more useful more often, deathstrike is to chance and with my bad luck will never fire and scatter and take out necrons 3 tables away in another game causing my to get jumped in the parking lot.

The Deathstrike would be fun in APOC. In normal 40k, not so much.

Look at the range on it. 960". That's 80 feet! I mean, that's picking a table across the store and launching your missile over there. Excellent for preemptively attacking your next round opponent. Not much use in the game you're currently playing, but you can get a head start on your other games with it. Not much else in the game can do that.

I wanna play on an 80' board....go set up your 40k game in a parking lot....
The manticore is so much better: the ability to have 3 large blasts a turn for 4 turns, and at S10 (Who cares about AP4...)
The Deathstrike takes too long to fire, and though the blast is nice, it just won't do enough in a regular 40k game....run a squadron of them in Apoc though....behind like a million guardsmen...*Homer drool*

Its been eratta'd to be unlimeted range.
I've had someone call up the store from another country, and call in a deathstrike that was owned by someone who didn't even show up that day, it was in his case at home. Hilarity ensued.
