I got this conversion idea, but since I'm not the best sculptor, I'd need to find the head somewhere else. Therefor I wonder if any of you guys recall any miniatures with female anime-style heads, sized so that it'd fit a tau Shadowsun Commander body. Big eyes and crazy hair required!

Oh, and I've heard there are two 'famous' tau female commander conversions out there. Yet I've only seen one of them. If anyone got links, I'd love to have em posted!

Cheers

Which one have you seen?

Hasslefree do Elf heads which might be a good basis for sculpting a Tau female head. You only need to reduce the nose and add hair.

Otherwise some of their female figures might provide a ready sculpted head, given a slight nose job.

The GW Shadowsun kit includes a bare head as well as a helmetted head.

Concept sketch and Gareths green can be seen here.
And a picture of it painted here.

I'll check hasslefree's miniatures out, thanks for the tip.

The problem is that the unique facial features of Tau would require you to resculpt the face anyways. I think you'd be better off GSing your own, as the details would be fairly easy to do.

I think you can get away with filing down the nose a bit, and scribing the Y shaped 'forehead nostril'.

There are very few official examples of female Tau artwork. The only ones I know are in Xenology (an Ethereal) and the bare head of the Shadowsun model. She's got a very tiny snub kind of nose, and strong cheekbones.

Natural variation means you don't have to make all female Tau heads look like her.

I think I might try one of the demonette heads. Not sure if I should keep it the way it is, or sculpture the wierd Tau nostril thingy. I kinda dont like the idea, so might just keep it.

Would it be a horrible crime to use this head without any resculpting? (I'll remove the moon pendant thou)

Well well. Yet another brilliant idea from the think tank.

Man, I remember that shadowsun conversion! I assume you're going to try a version of that yourself? Definately second the hasslefree idea (and infact I'll just take this oppertunity to plug them all round).

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know where I might find a male anime-style head, for guard? I've plans for a guy with a big sword that I think could benefit from more than just a closed helmet.

I reckoned that the Daemonette heads could work.
Have a word with a Daemons player, I think you get at least 4 spares, and give it a try.
