That's... horrible. Can you imagine what that would be like? Unable to move, unable to communicate for 23 years?
The mere thought of it gives me chills.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

There was a really good anti- war book I read a while ago called "Johnny Got His Gun", about a kid in WW1 that had his arms, legs and face blown off. It goes into what happens inside this guys brain while he lays there in the hospital.
Totaly excellent book that reads a lot what this poor fellow must have gone through.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

I suppose it's a good excuse to watch pay-per-view porn in hospital rooms...
'What? He LIKES it! See? He twitched...'

Isn't that the story behind Metallica's ONE song?
I know it uses scenes from a movie with a similar name in the video.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

I'm not sure, but it's possible. The images in that book stayed with me a long time after I read it, especially the way the protagonist invents to communicate.
