I've had nothing but good games playing through the 'Ard Boyz tournament circuit. Let me say that.
But at the finals, there was a group of players that would shout "fateWEAVAH!" whenever their Kairos had made a particularly lucky roll - and I mean SHOUT it, across the room so their friends they traveled with could hear it, and echo the cry. Others in the group would shout "GATEWAY!" upon successful casting of Infernal Gateway - I assume it was any time they cast it, not just when rolling the 11 or 12 instant death roll, unless they got particularly lucky.
Really? Do you think your opponent wants to see you scream the name of your army's gimmick whenever you roll well against them? Cheering raucously when you roll well isn't exactly good sport, especially when you rub it in their face by screaming across the room at your buddy, and letting every other player know how well you're crushing them with your lucky rolls.
In all my 'Ard Boyz experiences, even ones that involved asking judges for a ruling, nothing ever was in bad spirits or left me with any ill will. But that shouting and jeering, bringing attention to your opponent's misfortune, was really obnoxious. Save that for private or local gaming groups, and don't disrupt tournaments with that behavior.

I'd agree. A lucky roll tells nothing of your or your opponent's tactics or how the game is going or anything else useful, announcing it loudly is just annoying.

It's a spectator sport and anyone that has played sports knows that you can't control the spectators.

Its also a game, and theres nothing wrong with having fun.
Mocking others though is lame.
Its become a sort of meme at my FLGS every time I roll for my steam points, everyone within earshot chants "Ah steam steam steam steam!".
Again the point is to have fun.

Cheering and yelling your army's gimmicks is alright. Happens a lot at my FLGS. That reminds me of this one time, fairly recently, when some guys were playing Apocalypse and I heard someone yell "Where the feth did that Baneblade come from?" and then one of the staff yelled "CREEEED!"

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I'm with you spellbound. It was a little obnoxious when I am trying to plan out my next move only to have someone shout FATEWEAVA! Really loudly. I think it's OK if it's in fun, which I think that was, but with something like that, you really have to know your opponent. Someone could take offense pretty easily if you get off the gateway spell and then shout victoriously to the crowd at large. Better to save that stuff for FLGS and games with friends. Just my 2 cents.
