Subject: Fortress of Redemption... to buy or not to buy

So here I sit looking at the Fortress of Redemption.
On one hand it's a big massive inflexible terrain piece and I already have a city worth of those.
On the other hand it's a Barbie Dream House for my little plastic men complete with working elevator and a closet for their pretty dresses...
To buy or not to buy...
Y'know if it had a little jail cell I could lock Cobra Commander in or a working Trash Compactor filled with foam I'd get it in a heart beat...

How much? I might get it, but that's beacuse I would love to "Orkify" it, so many pretty details, it's a painters paridise. In games terms it's nothing special, but if you pride yourself on your scenary, then it is defantly one of a kind.

Or $75 when the Warstore's sale starts Thursday.

I would wait till the sale, if they sell out before you get there, it was never meant to be.

Well, it is a limited run, so you better make up your mind fast!
I think if you've got a Space Marine army (especially DA) you should defenitely pick one up. It'd make one hell of a bastion in a Planetstrike game.

I'm pretty sure they confirmed it's not a limited run. There's no reason to just discontinue an expensive plastic mold for the sake of it. (Space Hulk notwithstanding, but that was because the tiles and the like were very expensive to produce)
If Dark Angels were still my main army, I'd get that thing in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, the Angels of Darkness broke my heart.

It's easily converted so that it won't be The Fortress Of Space Marines Named After A Gay Poet's Literature. Get rid of the big angel thing and make a big greenstuff Wolf That Stalks the Stars and you've got a right wolfy fortress.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

It looks absolutely cool.
I postpone to buy it for boycott reasons (we want the codex but got a fortress).

Bah... too much SPESH MAREINS! stuff imho. Get some tau / eldar / ork / nid / necron / dark eldar terrain going. It's like not the imperium is the ONLY people defending anything worth of vaule... right? Or do we just invade imperial worlds because all the other people hate them?

Aside from how they chose to market it I'm not really sure what's so space Marine-y about this (human oriented sure, but not SM specific), angels are hardly Space Marine only.
I've got one on preorder cause I think it looks dandy, but then I need a nice looking fortress for siege games anyway.

Yep, never heard this complaint before.
Most people play Imperial armies, most terrain is therefore Imperial. Simple business sense. They're allegedly working on some Tyranid terrain soon though. As for Orky terrain? The only person who can't make Orkified terrain just lacks imagination. Anything can be looted, anything can be Orked up.

I wouldn't mind chaosifying this. Throw a bunch of crucified guardsmen on the ramparts, it could be cool.

Its not Space Marine terrain, its Dark Angel terrain.
And last time I checked there is not that much SM terrain, its all civy and IG junk thats to small for my men in robes.
I still consider this a apology for what they did to the army.
Half accepted.

This is why I love orks, you take any piece of terrain, and follow the three step program.
Step 1: Paint it as you normaly would
Step 2: Attack it with a pin vice and knife (the big the better)
Step 3: Glue a couple odds and ends on it.

Decided not to. I have too much terrain already and most of it is unpainted.
But I am tempted, yes, yes I am.

I generaly play in places that have terrain, so I just generaly use the old faithful klenex box as terrain. Plus too much of my miniatures are unpainted for me to be destracted by a pretty building, and damn it IS pretty.
