i wanted a manticore for a while but never came round to it
the best idea ive come up with is start with a chimera base then get 4 HKM of sentinels thenfind a base to put them on the chimera
any one got any better ideas???

You could also use a Whirlwind missile set, the kind with four missiles. Mod the Chimera itself though - create some spades or stabilizers that would theoretically extend when the gun fires. They don't have to actually extend, you could have them folded against the sides of the tank's hull.

Just an idea.

You could also buy a tac missile turret from Old Crow models and use that. 4 missiles on a turret with radome (not overly 40k ridiculously huge) and can be made to fit a basilisk hull with a little work.

I used a basilisk kit, then used the extra missiles from my Valkyries.

I used the slender missiles from the Stompa kit, with a bit of their orkyness removed. They look big enough to distinguish themselves from the smaller Hunter Killer missiles on the IG vehicles, and come with racks to attach to an Aegis defense turret, with a bit of work.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

If youre feelin froggy, and you've got the funds, FW makes a Manticore conversion kit.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

If you're going for renegades, a defiler body might work; it has the same basic shape, though it may be a bit higher. Still, the plasticard work is very basic, no need to be discouraged by it; if I can manage, most people should do fine.

The autocannon turret from the newish barricade set? Should be pretty easy to mount missiles on it instead of autocannons.

reverse mount the chimera top piece

grind off the turret mount ring so its flat

take the razorback top hatch from the rhino kit, cut the venting off flush with the turret ring. Attach it to the now flat chimera top.

mount the whirlwind turret onto the chimera.

End result is a center mounted whirlwind turret on a chimera chassis. Very east to do.
