Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

So as I'm putting my Dark Eldar army together, I'm trying to figure out how the skimmers move and interact with their bases.

1. Do skimmers need to have flying bases? I've got a large assembly of Deffkoptas and the bases are always breaking, leaving me to haphazardly try gluing them back together. I can't imagine trying to keep flying bases on vehicles and raiders.

2. If skimmers have flying bases, what happens between turns? The rules say that skimmers settle to the ground between moving phases; do I put them on their flying bases and then take them off every turn?

How does it work?

They go on the flying bases and stay on them unless immobilized.

There are lots of ways to model the flying stands to make the connection more durable. One of the simplest is to widen the hole on the underside of the model a little, and insert the tapered part of the rod instead of the little narrow peg. Another is to use rare earth magnets. Another is to replace the clear (but brittle) plastic rod with something stronger, like brass rod, a screw or a nail.

Are you gluing the koptas to the bases? I've had much more trouble with skimmer bases in transport than I've had while actually playing, so I don't glue them any more. Just carry the bases and the koptas separately, then put them together when you get ready to play.

Magnets or drilling out the bore of the hole to hold more of the flying base are you safest options, do no glue the stands in.

Skimmers need to be on the bases, unless immobilized. Settling down is just fluff.

The settling down part has been taken to mean putting the base down on the table since skimmers can rise into the air and pass over other units and terrain. They just have to be put down on the table at the end of their move and cant claim to be floating.

Technically they are required to be glued onto their bases in the BRB, but practically its much easier to transport them off of the bases. I have wiped a very thin layer of glue over the peg on the top of the stands to provide a little tighter seal, and as a plus if the local TFG ever complains about them not being glued I can point out that there is indeed glue on the stand

If you are good with magnets then thats definitely the way to go.

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

2nd this. It's what I do.

Models and bases remain separate until fielded on the tabletop.
Makes storage so much easier too.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
