Your best bet is various bits stores online, like Battlewagon Bitz.

For what you are looking for, the ork Battlewagon has treads with wheels, or if you are looking for whole tank sides, you can find that for any tank.

Any other suggestions?

In the shops i saw that cable ties seem to have an excellent pattern to them which i thought looks a bit like tank tracks.

So i have used them in my current project (converting a leman russ into battlewagon/looted wagon, becaue I wanted to keep the original tracks for another project)

It is quite messy as it curves around, but because im covering them up with planks, you can hind the messy joins.
I dont know if your doing ork vehicles, but im fairly happy with the look. But it probably wouldnt work for imperial type vehicles, because it isnt neat enough

Well tracks from battlewagon bits costs as hell, and im looking just for like basic tank tracks.

Those wide zip-ties look pretty promising, actually. I may have to give that a try. You'd still have to manufacture the wheels and structural components yourself, though. If you want cheap tank tracks, look for cheap tank models. There's an article that discusses scales and models for vehicle conversion, IIRC. Might want to give that a look.

you could make youre own
by getting something to use as spacers wrapping thin(very very thin) plsticard round the whole thing then glueing thicker plasticard treads on top

Well those tracks are just ok and I can see how much work those take. Try to find the resin tank topic from the-waaagh and you will get better idea what im after for.

You could also use a variety of 1/35 conventional tank track sets (M-113 and M-3/M-4 are both around the same width). You can even get sets with the running gear included).

If you don't need the wheels you can get cheap stretch watch bands from the dollar store or K-mart.

Mostly, on my phone.

For chunky wheels, I've used lids off kids' smoothie packets for my Baneblade (gratuitous WIP plug!) Works a treat with LR tracks.
