I just watched a few minutes of Obama's speech with my dad.
I became aware of the fact that I don't give a crap about any of what Obama is making a speech about.

Why should I even care that some third world country run by some wacked out dictator is trying to get nukes?
Why should I think that a politcians promises are anything but lies?
Why should I give a damn about anything happening in the world?
Why should I be like my friends, who can't wait to vote, even though it makes no difference?

None of this stuff matters to me.

I'm asking the older, hopefully more mature users to enlighten me as to why I should care.

You will suddenly realize 10 years from now it is oddly relevant to you...

Chances are, those nukes are pointed at places that matter, throughout the globe. I am sure there are some reliable numbers to gauge 'exactly' how much of a threat it poses to you as an individual.

When they deliver on said promises. Not all that complicated, but compromise does not automatically equal failing.

Maybe you shouldn't, and instead focus on your career/life in general.

None of this stuff matters to me.

Some of it will matter to you later in life.

The funny thing is we're so powerful noone is going to nuke us, which makes us unconcered about some fether's nukes, which if they just don't care might end up launched against us because they just don't care.

This is not the night to be asking this 30 something about life. I wish I could help you though, becuase I'm working though all that myself.

It sounds like you're somewhat depressed and in some kind of mid-life crisis funk even though you're 15...btw is this legal for me to be typing to a minor?

My advice: familiarize yourself with some women and care about that for a while but at the same time don't get overly-invested over a particular woman

Impossible. There are always people who cannot think for themselves, and someone with enough ambition will gather them into a group.

Humans are a social animal. For each to disregard another, we would not last long. Besides, it is instinct for people to want to be in groups. It isn't everyone's instinct, but is the instinct of many.

However, it is quite an interesting scenario you present.

Sadly shuma is right on this one. You are a teenager, and though when I was your age I tried to be somewhat versed in the ways of the world I really didnt care at all. The truth is once you get older, and start to see how things like this affect your pay, your taxes, your families safety THEN you will care. Until that day though avoid it, and enjoy yourself because once you get older things get much more complicated.

It'll come naturally to you in time.
