*EDITED 3* Price cut... with more nobz!
I thought I might treat myself this year (and by 'myself' I mean everyone I know). I made up a little wish list and wondered what you think of it and what I could use army list wise?
AoBR:
20x boyz
5x nobz
1x warboss
3x deff koptas
2x battleforce:
40x boyz
6x bikers
2x truks
Boxes:
5x nobz
1x truk
1x battlewagon
1x big mek
CODEX! All out price: £225.45 - $373.51
Some of you may realise most of this is from the battleforce and black reach (aka. I'm on a budget!) so I don't want people saying get 100000 boyz (but man would that be fun!). I also don't want this to serious, but with a bit of fluff (but not crazy). I am a Ork noob BTW (Rest till Nidz!) so please correct me if I'm wrong!

I started with a similar set of purchases (aside from a box of tankbustas I never use ). The additions (loota/burna boxes, Mek, Wagon, second Trukk) are all solid choices for mechanized orks. The only things I don't field routinely from the black reach/battleforce are the bikers, as 3 can't really hold their own well, but the set is still quite good.

My advice as an ork player and full well knowing that they can get out of hand in terms of what you want, ask yourself: what type of ork army am I going to run? Mechanized with trukk boyz and battlewagons? The killa kan line? Masses of footsloggers marching up the board? Shooty orks with tons of lootas and shoota boyz?
Once you decide what you want to play, narrow down the wish list to JUST what you will field and build a list to suit that need. That will help control the urge to buy tons of EVERYTHING for the orks (hard to resist, they are cool) and focus on what you want to run in an actual game.
For a player on a budget, hard to say what to recommend. Orks tend to have a lot of models, but you can get a lot of good stuff from AoBR and the various battleforce/megaforce box sets.
Off-hand, your list looks like the beginning a mek list. As such, focus on slugga boyz, trukks, and battlewagons. Instead of a normal warboss, consider Ghazghkull as he is a beast. Keep a nob for each slugga unit with a power klaw. Burna boyz work in this list, running around in a battlewagon with the big mek for the flamer template wagon of doom. Deffkoptas can support this army, but the bikes you should drop/sell/trade for the other stuff you need.

Thing i like most about Orks is you can customise..... Most of my army is scratch built from cheap kids toys you pick up at discount stores and older edition boyz that people flick for cheap on ebay etc. Using either of those box sets and a little ingenuity you can come up with an awesome army.
I posted a 1500 Ork KoS army that you could almost copy exactly with the stuff you mentioned and a couple (or three) scratch built trukks.

Excellent point. Orks are great for conversion, adaptation. It's supposed to look rough and slapped together. Very orky!

If you got everything on your list, you'd have a poor army to play with. Yeah...decide what you want to play with.

Everything you've put down are good choices, you just need more of them i.e nobz and two units i.e deffkopters.
See you have three transports, two are armour 10 so not hard to stop. One lonely deff dread which will become a target priority. A lone unit of lootas, which will be target priority. These need sorting out. Decide what you want and take it from there

Id get AoBR, it gives you a playable army after all, and a one battle force. This gives you: Warboss, 40 boyz, 5 nobz, a trukk, 3 deffkoptas and three warbikers.
You might be able to get a bit of money back if you sell the AoBR marines, my mate got around £40 for them.

I sold my (horribly) painted SM's from my AOBR box for $30 dollars. It was a terrible, far off picture aswell, so you couldn't tell if it was that bad.
Sold my actually nicely, TT quality painted AOBR orks (except the deffkoptas) for $40

In a lot of cases you can go down to your local hobbie store and get JUST the orkz form the AoBR for like 24 bucks, Im guessing the SMs are the more desierable. (they will just have all the SMs cut out and be shrink wrapped). so if you can find those little kits i would pick up 2 of those, 2 Battleforce box sets, and anything else you can afford in there like a battle wagon ect.
if you can pick up the AoBR set like that it will be the best bang for your buck, i got lucky and did this myself. actually think i picked up 3 with just orkz at 25 bucks a pop. those along with the battle force will give you a sizeable force of boys some nobs and some trucks with bikes and deffcoptas.

Yes keep the Bikers they are totally fun to play. Make them nob bikers though. As far as nobs go in general,
Im not sold on them, Nobs can only have 3-10 in their unit so for a ORK unit that small with a 6+ armor that that is painful. So you want to give them a better armor save? OK toss em in eavy armor, but they still cant pop a tank or anything armored with a STR of 4 so you give them a powerklaw? right there you just spend 50 points on that model to have a Powerklawed nob with a 4+ armor save. where you can get a Mega Nob at 40 points with the power Klaw and a 2+ armor save for cheaper.

Problem is with that list there is its nice and all but that wishlist there would run you something like 500 to 600 bucks! not including the full price of the AoBR before you sell off the SMs.
im betting he is trying to put an ork army together for around 200 to 300 bucks.
2 battleforce at 89 each
AoBR orkz only roughly 50 to 60
that still your looking at around 260 so say he has an extra 40 to blow to meet his 300 goal (not including paints, brushes, glue ect...) best bang for your buck to get a decent army will be the 2 battle force box sets and 2 AoBR box sets IF you can pick up the orkz only.

Buying the nobs on their own realy isnt worth it. you can only run them mobds of 3-10. so just with the AoBR x2 should have enough there unless he is planning on running 2 to 3 mobs of them. Also if you have a friendly gaming group can use them as mega nobs and still there you can only run them at 3-10.

Eh? Hydeckadecka i have to ask: have you ever seen AOBR nobz? They have useless equipment. Unless OP is planning to do loads of conversion and scratch build tons of power klaws big choppas painboy stuff kombi weapons bosspoles etc then the nob kit wouldnt be useful.

I in fact was going to do quite a bit of converting! I was thinking maybe base the army so its against nidz, meaning scything talons on the end of their hands! Anyway, pretty set on the list now, maybe a looted wagon but just for conversion. Thanks for response. Oh, and sorry to mod!
