I recently purchased some flames of war minatures. I have a question about their size. Are the Flames of war miatures the same scale as a HO scale model train? if so i have an old train table im turning into a european style small town with a depo. If they are same scale i have some interesting objective ideas/missions and an interesting table to play Fow on.

I believe HO is somehting like 1:87; whereas FoW is about 1:100 so your buildings and trains are going to be a bit too big. This doesn't mean you can't still use the board though

But FoW models as produced by Battlefront are somewhat on the chunky side for 15mm - so would probably look just fine. "Truescale" 15mm models would look a little small, but it probably wouldn't be noticeable. To be honest most buildings and trees are too small for stuff useed in 28mm gaming and don't look odd. I'd give ita go.

Yeah, FoW models suffer from "pumpkin head" syndrome. When I played FoW I just bought Old Glory's 15 WW2 which were nicer and better proportioned.
Unfortunately it's hard to do terrain for WW2 in model train buildings. JRMiniatures has a nice set of 15mm buildings that work very well, though, and are comparably priced, or cheaper, than most rail road buildings.

I've seen some buildings at my logo store with the FOW sized terrain listed as HO. I'm sure it will work.
I was thinking about doing a 40K train set but it just seems like the train sizes an game sizes just don't match up good enough. O is too small and G is too big. There's some scales inbetween but they're not popular enough to be easy to find. I think the best fit would be N or Z scale with Epic minis. I thought about doing FOW/HO instead, but I never really got into the game. I might still go with O though, and just modify the engines to be bigger looking. The other cars would mostly be flatbed tank transports.

You can get away with using HO scale buildings in FoW. Especially for things like warehouses or if you just want to have some rail on your board.
For model trains, 1:100 is called TT scale but it's not very common in the US.
