Since the Eldar are supposed to be a race that uses advanced technology and has been around for such a long time, why isn't this represented by the weapons and armor in game? Shouldn't the Eldar have armor at least as good as power armor on most of their troops? It seems like they haven't advanced their technology at all in tens of thousands of years whereas the Tau are pretty much at the same level of technology in about 6,000 years of growth.

It just seems a little weird that shurikens are what the troops use and are basically disc shaped bullets. In another 2,000 years or so it looks like the Tau will rolling around with strength 8 mini-railgun rifles for their troops.

Eldar tech is based off the many constructs of Wraithbone.

The Eldar don't rely on massive strength weapons, their main tactic is the Aspect Warriors taking a certian aspect of war and being specialised in that aspect only. (tank hunters, cc monsters etc)

I used to be annoyed by this as well. Putting aside concessions from game design balance issues, I decided that while the Eldar are very technologically advanced they are not very practical.

For example, you can kill someone by throwing a rock at their head, or you can kill someone by creating a small (in size but large in magnitude) anti-gravity field behind a rock that will accelerate it towards someone's head.

Both have the same effect, a rock hitting someone's head, but one requires far more advanced technology.

The Eldar are a race of contradictions...

On one hand, they are a dying race. On the other hand, their front line troops and warmachine pilots are civilians. Their scarcity is also why Guardians are 8 points. (The extra 2 points Players are forced to pay is due to supply and demand).

On one hand, they have mastered antigravity technology, created the warp webway and are masters of bioplastics... on the other hand, their energy weapons have rubbish penetrative power and their main infantry weapons are ludicrously short ranged and shoot ninja stars PEW PEW. They send their finest warriors to die in battle equipped with the equivalent of fancy looking CARAPACE ARMOUR. The concepts of guided weapons, targetters and long ranged weaponry are racially unfathomable to the enigmatic Eldar.

On one hand, they are reputed to be the greatest psykers in the galaxy. On the other hand, they have fewer selectable powers than every other race.

On one hand, the Eldar paths are meant to train individuals to the pinacles of their arts. Apparently this means "as good as a SPESS MEHREIN". They also forget all their skills when they quit the their paths for other no less fabulous vocations such as farming, janitorial studies and basket weaving.

That is why the most realistic armies IMHO are mech' eldar. There are few of them, and they are surrounded by lots of technology.

The swarm of guardians yelling "Banzai!!!" just does not seem like Eldar.

In the gaming world it seems that any highly pychically powerful race are made to pay for it by being physcially more weaker in strength and in weaponary.

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

Apply reason to Eldar, and they die- be happy with their epic models, interesting color schemes, and pointy ears, and leave the rest alone.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

Mayby they are inefficent becuase they are a slightly more elegent mirror of the Imperium. Mayby they represent that the more alien a race is, the closer it's fighting style. I think the Eldar think in the same way as the Imperium, they just have a clean look, they just call their guardsmen guardians.

Also notice the only races to have decent guns are the one who can't aim well. (Orks,Tau)

Four scholars at Oxford were making their way down the street, and happened to see a group of ladies of the evening. “What’s this?” said the first. “A jam of tarts?” “Nay,” said the second, “an essay of Trollope’s.” “Rather, a flourish of strumpets,” advanced the third. “No, gentlemen,” concluded the last. “Here we have an anthology of pros.”

I'm puzzled, the Eldar after some 60 million years of developing can't have a better armor than spess muhriness.

Because it acts like fabric, except hardens when hit. They only use Guardians to fill in the gaps made by a lack of aspect warriors. Every single Eldar fights, unlike the Imperium which has trillions not even seen in the background. If the Eldar have enough Aspect Warriors in their Craftworld, you will not see any Guardians with them.

It really doesn't make since when their tanks/transports piloted by people who have lived at least a few hundred years etc yet have a BS3. Now things like the Fire Dragons and Harlies show just how advanced eldar should be.
