Alright, I'm building a 2000 point mechanized ork list. I'm trying to make it fit into the speed-freek theme, as well as be hard hitting and able to win games. I have 210 points that I don't quite know what to do with.

The original plan was to get 14 lootas with that, but lootas are static, and can die really fast if they aren't supported, and most of my list is based on the idea of running up to you in transports and beating your face in, lootas are out of place, sure they have a job to do, but can they do their job while being the only 'soft target' on the board?

I thought about this a bit, and wondered if 11 burna boyz in some kind of looted wagon could work out, I also have a big mek + KFF and burna, if I stuck him in the unit, they now have a mek, LD 8, I4, and a S5 power weapon! However, I'm not sure the wagon will live, my opponent has only 5 other big targets that he can shoot at (2 trukks, 2 battlewagons, Deffkoptas) all of these are gaining cover from this one vehicle.

So I wondered if I could get some use out of the stormboyz I'm building (I love the kit, that is all.) I did some math, found out that 14 stormboyz and a nob with a powerklaw and a bosspole fit inside that 210 point 'limit'

So, which of these do you think is the option that fits the rest of my list.

(Rest of list, Warboss with PK attack squig and mandatory upgrades, a CC nobz mob with a battlewagon transport (and a boarding plank), Big mek with KFF and burna, 2 trukks full of boyz, a battlewagon full of boyz, a unit of 4 deffkoptas...or maybe 2 units of 2 deffkoptas, I'm not sure which yet, and Snikrot, to 'encourage' my opponent to come out of the corner )

If burnas take battlewagon but no points for that i think. Lootas are bad along with speedy list. Stormboyz are good but they are only orks with 6+ in middle of open who will die soon if not hided. 2 unit of 2 deffkoptas are better than 4 in one unit. Have you concidered another trukk boyz? They are way to go i think.

Burna boyz is my vote, but only if you have the space to load 'em in a BW. I myself would drop 1 kopta and field the remaining as 3 seperate units. I'd use those points to flesh out that burna squad. They work best at full capacity. Just played a game using them, and boy did they pull their weight.

If you're going for a fast list, then lootas probably wouldn't be so good. However, I run a trukk and battlewagon list with two lootas units as support and they're great for medium anti armour, anti infantry and tackle monstrous creatures. Though, one unit is in a wagon with a big mek which has a KFF and the other unit just camps up in a ruin. See with your lootas they can fire while the rest of your army moves forward, so you're getting some shots in and taking out some units before your boyz get into the fight.

If you're running all trukks and wagons I wouldn't take stormboyz. They're the only unit on foot, so will be a prime target and won't last too long. You really need two units of these for mutual support.

Burnas are ok. They can lay down mass flamer templates from a transport and will wreck a enemy unit. Though in assault they will go last, and even having power weapons they are 6+ save and will probably get butchered by will take some out with them. But the looted wagon has that suck ass rule. So I would take a battlewagon for them.

Or, perhaps consider another unit of trukk boyz?

I recently ran some lootas with my speed freeks, I found them very useful as they let you reach out and start inflicting some potentially serious damage from turn 1. They may well be a soft target but cover helps this, and also remember that if he's shooting your lootas he's not shooting your trukks, you should be happy.

If you go with these you should rethink your strategy a little however, play more cautiously and avoid combat (a crazy suggestion some might say) until you have shot his army to bits. Looking at your brief list summary you should have at least 7 big shootas, add the lootas now and you can pack a fair punch in the shooting phase. When he's weakend, jump him with everything you've got.

Hope thats helpful,

Mookie.

Mercer, king of deffgun worshippers Take as many lootas as possible everywhere no hell.. no... you have to have 100 precent of assault or 100 precent of shooting. Thats number rule one when playing orks.

Lootas rule w0chtulka, under the right setup and units Just don't take 5 of them lol.

All orks can shoot and all orks can assault anyway.

Burnas in an open-topped vehicle is scary, fill a trukk/looted wagon with burnas and launch yay-many templates from a vehice as soon as you can...

You know, I knew someone would say this, and I'm beginning to like this idea.

I think there really are two options: Trukk boyz or battlewagon burnas. Just find points for second one (drop one kopta) or take boyz. I can see that lootas work well when there is 45 of them around
