I managed to acquire some spare Stompa hull panels (pictured mocked up below) a while back and have been wanting to do some form of terrain/modeling project with them:



I'm not sold on what to use them as the basis for (I already have three stompas so that is not the direction I wanna go). Here are a few ideas I have been kicking around:

1. ORKY BUNKER/GUN TOWERS: Cut them down to remove the area above the top black line and add a turreted platform that could hold a mob of boyz and or various guns, etc.. For general terrain and in Planetstrike...

2. Make a couple of "mini-stompa" type Mega-Dreds by cutting them down below the bottom black line and getting some forgeworld mega-dred weapons, etc. most costly option potentially...

3. Make a couple of "Stomp Pods" or crashed rocks: in effect looted drop pods with entry/exit ramp/hatch, etc. for use in Apocalypse...

4. Make a couple of surfacing ork drillers by adding massive rock drills to the tops and having them surfacing out of the ground (again use drop pod rules in Apocalypse)

Thoughts?

If you use the top 2/3's, you could make some Digga Stompa's. Check out BOLS, they have the stats for it.

Flip them upside down and use them as Ork bastions. There is a sweet pic of one on the GW site.

I like options 1 and 3

Have you thought about using a battlewagon for the the top so you can place a turret on the top like they have on the FW site?

Try for something that hides the fact that they're stompa torsoes. Cutting them, as you've suggested, would help - as would extending them. Some possibilities not already suggested:
- two back to back (and optionally also upside down) would make a nice orky bastion
- one lying on its back would be a good base for a half-buried crashed orky spaceship - extend the front to form a rocket cone and add engines to the back.

Yeah I have seen that, though to be honest I think the inversion looks silly and would have it wider at the bottom...
