Hey all,

the list I made is rather personal. I actually really hate transports. With the points one spends in transports you have more troops. I'm just hoping this list will atleast be semi-competitive ( read good enough for friendly play). Comments and criticism welcome offcourse, just remember it's not a tourney list (allthough i might just try it).

HQ

-Avatar

-Farseer
guide, fortune, runes of warding and spirit stones

Troops

-10 guardians
warlock with singing spear and enhance
EML weapon platform

-10 guardians
warlock with singing spear and enhance
EML weapon platform

-9 dire avengers and 1 exarch with pw, shimmershield and bladestorm

-5 pathfinders

Fast attack

-7 warpspiders with 1 exarch with powerblades and deathspinner x 2

Heavy support

-Wraithlord with 2 x flamers, bright lance and EML
-Wraithlord with 2 x flamers, bright lance and EML
-Wraithlord with 2 x flamers, shuriken cannon and scatter laser

Grand total of 1496 points.

Let me know what you think.

Saddly, things like Dire avengers really DO need transports... and as fragile as eldar are (5+, 4+ saves mostly, T3) they honestly do need armor to keep them alive and survive... I like the list tho, I'd say play test it out in a few casual games. But I'd highly recommend you not run this in a tourney.

It is a bit sad though, 90 points for a naked wave serpent. I mean really.

I'm gonna playtest this list in a few weeks, still waiting on my 3 wraithlords, they should arrive next week.

I'll let you know how it went. Thanks though for the fast reply.

Should i perhaps try and replace the Dire Avengers with something less transport dependant??

Problem is DA's are your BEST troop choice (outside wraithguard which are exxxxxxpensive)... and yeah they do rely heavily on transports for mobility and to get into range. And yeah, your transports are hella expensive, but they're pretty damn good!

Pretty much ditto. I mean fortune may save them a little but I would not even play a foot slogging eldar force. Not to be harsh but that would be a horrible game. My BA assault squads and Baal predators would make quick work of them. I would be on you too fast for you shooting line to be efficant. Or my Orks would probably do even better with my looted wagons and Nob bikers. Mobility is the key with Eldar, and the minute you take that away from them they are in troube. The WL are nice though. I would eleminate one of them to make room for the WS. Warlock hover bikers or whatever do well with the Fortune.

Why enhance on your shooty guardians? You don't really gain much with an additional WS and I, Conceal, or Embolden would be better options. Other than that I'd say it'll do what you want.

Moving flat out..

I just ran my first Eldar footslogging Army in a Cities of Death game this week.. and I can tell you, I sure did miss my wave serpents affording me the ability to send whatever I want - wherever I want.

But if you're going to do it.. I think this is a good list to start. But if I wasn't fighting somewhere with a lot of cover (like city fights usually are) the toughness 'elf' of Eldar are very vunerable.

You may want to think about giving the warlocks the spirit seer upgrade so that they can move around a little bit rather than be stuck so close to their warlocks/farseer.

Allright, thanks for the advice so far.

The reason i put enhance on the guardians' warlocks is that i thought it would make them a bit more durable in cc. We always play with lots of terrain so i reasoned cover wouldn't be a problem. Also by sticking them close to the avatar they become fearless.

I'll playtest it soon and post the results here. Thanks for the replies. I thought about using wraithguard but 10 of those cost more then the 3 wraithlords i ordered. sheesh.

In the Webway.

If your running at foot slogging list i would include some JB, yes i know theyre not on foot, but you said it was the transports you hate, you can use theese to race ahead and perhaps tie up enemy units etc. Some vypers may also be good to zoom around the side of tanks, heavy weapon squads etc. and blow/kill it with heavy weapons.

P.S. Nice avatar

Just tossing 2cents in here.

Enhance will hopefully never be of use to the guardian units, same for the singing spear. Change enhance to either conceal (if you can't bank on terrain), embolden (if you find you avatar is going down too fast), or Destructor as a last resort "oh crap I'm gonna get assaulted" button.

As said by others, DA on foot is like clothes on a supermodel... useless. Unless your fighting IG or Tau, PW/SS isn't goign to help you much. DA in CC is fodder.

In my experience shooty wraiths have been rather lackluster for their point cost. Swordlords at 100pts can get the job done and if they meet a lascannon barrage then meh you lost 100pts.

I tossed enhance on the warlocks because i thought that with 12" shooting range chances are high they will get assaulted, the reasoning behind the singing spear was that it matches the guardians range.

I really need to playtest this list asap

I am considering throwing in some jetbikes though. I'll keep you guys posted.

If your guardians are in a 12" range they are already dead. Keep them at long range for the EML.
