This is one of my first Tyranid warriors. Any comments and criticisms are welcome! I do have one question for you guys though. I am having trouble making the claws look like bone that is darker towards the base and lighter at the tip. Any suggestions?

Edit: NOOOO!! I just noticed a HUGE piece of sprue that I missed on the tail! Please excuse my grave mistake!

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

You have an interesting effect on the blue/white shell, how did you do it?

I like the blue, but I am not so sure that it goes with the red so much, but if you like the colour scheme, I am willing to go with you on it

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

The shell is just a layer of enchanted blue. Next I put some space wolf grey on my brush and dab most of it off. Not quite to the level of drybrushing though. I then brush that lightly over. Then last is a layer of drybrushed skull white.

Th skin is a base coat of red gore then a devlin mud wash. Then just a drybrush of blood red.

I was going for the look of a tyranid in a kind of mid evolution. Like they were all red but are evolving to fight foes on an ice world.

Any suggestions for claws. I don't like how mine turned out.

The shell is very interesting, like the overall shade of things.

And as for the claws I will have to think about that.

This is good.... isn't it?

It's very good, especially the shell.

It looks chalky, like keratin, or a scorpion's carapace.

All in all, it's sweet; I can't wait to see more.

Oh yeah, i only glanced over the image, and the chunk of sprue looked like a barb.

Besides, the guys get a chance to let their FABULOUS! side out. - Fafnir, regarding male howling banshees

For the claws. I think they should be blue. The yellow just dosen't sit right with the rest of the model.

The blue looks good, a wash would help. It does however, come off as a bit messy. Maybe if you cleaned a little more paint off of your brush, or used layering techniques to acheive the same effect. Both would probably appear cleaner.

Skin looks great :-P

Cheers.
