Anyone have any idea on how to give a space marines bolter a sling? I also wanted to give a bolter a M249 saw style magazine any idea on how to do both of these things?

For the sling, greenstuff or thin plasticard should work out fine. Make a 'sheet' of greenstuff, let it cure for 30-40 mins, then cut out the slings and attach them. For the M249, try orky bits or old chaos space marine bolter for the chain-fed ones, of you want a box, the IG vehicle accessory sprue has a box-shaped magazine on it.

Also, do a search in the gallery, I'm sure some cool pics will crop up.

Sternguard Bolters have an M240 Style box-magazine, but you can also make a drum mag using an IG grenade launcher.

Screw it ill try all three ideas on the bolter and i didnt think about using green stuff that might work better you can shape that better thanks guys

Thin plastic card strips are the way to go. Green stuff will take time and I think the result is not as good.

0.25mm plasticard sounds right for the slings. Easy to cut into strips with a knife or scissors.

To make a box mag I would stick together several bits of thick plasticard (1.2mm) and trim or file it down.

If you want to do a lot of them, you could add a bit of detail using scribing and/or green stuff and mould up a bunch in resin.

I thought about doing some resin casting but where i am i cant get resin easily and if i could i would be paying high dollar so im just going to make one for my character but thanks for telling me what size plastic card im going to need i was going to pick the wrong thickness

0.25mm plastic card is fine for slings.

My friend made his own slings using some sort of trash platstic packaging. Just cut the strips and attached. They turned out looking pretty good, although asthetically I think they tend to make the model look "busy".

For the sling I think you would get the best result using the plasticard idea.

Regarding the box mag idea the Marine vehicle storm bolter has a box mag that you could probably use.

Yeah I like the mag box that the space marine bike has but i dont have one and i wouldnt know where to get that part of the model but yeah i already thought about that and it is a great idea
