If i instead paint the board with strong tau colors of yellows, oranges and whites could it pass for tau themed city? If so then i might have to grab two of those combinded up with lots buildings.

I've got that set + the citygrounds one, their brilliant quality and yeah two of those would be good tau terrain if you painted them a more tan coloured ground.

The power generator would also be great tau'd up. and if you got 2 sets you'd have two so could use them as a power source.

Looks like a great board, and definately a candidate for a Tau city. A little too expensive for me at the moment though.

Duce, what are these things made of by the way? Can't seem to find any info on the website. Ah, nevermind, it's MDF.

It is a nice looking board.

In my view it is too rectilinear to make a great Tau city though.

The available pictures of Tau buildings have an emphasis on on curves, round towers, domes, and other such curved kind of shapes.

It would be difficult to fit these into the square corner road grid on that board.

Look at all the circular shapes on the ground though, and if the road was painted a more tau colour than black it could blend the shape in. That and with the battle damage on some bits does make the road less straight line than you would assume form that picture.

Tau buildings could be circular with a square bottom section to blend it all together.

The only thing would be if i wanted rounded buildings it would be quite tricky to make myself. Anyone got recommendations?

Dude!! tell me your secerts!!

And on a personal note, those buildings for tau are awfuly textured if you know what i mean. Unless your going for the Eroaded tau building type. Sorry if that offends you ):

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

The bases are Blu-ray discs. (I have tons of bad ones from work.)

The domes are a Japanese miso soup bowl. I found it on sale for £1.29 so I bought half a dozen. I may get some more. I call it a Run'al'el (strong small building.) It is the Tau equivalent of a Nissen hut. Quick to construct and adaptable to a variety of uses such as barracks, commissary, comms station, drone hangar, and so on.

The concept is a Tau forward base, built by the Earth caste using standard templates for modular buildings. The round bases are used for nearly everything. I'm going to have some which are just pads with piles of supply crates on them. Most will be variations on the run'al'el. A couple will be done using alternatives -- I've got a big yoghurt pot for the AA defense tower and a plant pot water dish for a vehicle landing pad.

The Earth caste construct the circular base and/or building from a variety of high tech supplies converted on site from locally available materials. The outer finish is done by spraying 'rockcrete' produced on site. The rough surface is considered suitable for military structures. It allows the buildings to weather quickly into the local environment, helping to camouflage them.

There are various textured sprays available. Something with a finer texture could be used for a Tau city. There used to be some nice tutorials for Tau buildings on the GW website but they needed a lot of work cutting foamboard and stuff. The point of my project was to build stuff quickly and easily.

Well, I think you should go for a more curved look, as the Tau usually use spherical buildings.

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.
