Decided to ditch Warhammer 40,000 and Games Workshop alltogether for a while, and started playing WARMACHINE again with my friends.
Gotta love it, best miniaturegame around in my opinion. Anyways, to keep my painting hand steady and my brushes wet, I'll be holding a blog of my Khador army.
Here's the first man of the empire. Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Champion and Prince of Umbrey:
Done in full NMM, like the rest of the army will be. Hope you digg.

The red looks good on the armor and the free hand on the cloak is excellent.
The gold NMM is a bit uneven, the shoulder pads look nice, but the back plate is looking a bit off. The center without any reflections is just not looking right.
The sword could be a bit brighter, but it has nice contrast.
Excellent basing which fits the theme and character and completes the scheme. Striking centerpiece to your army.

If I'm not mistaken, Metsuri, that's the "Epic Warcaster" base that that Vlad comes with
Very nice job, RunicFIN - though I'm always concerned by just how big Vlad's shoulder pads are going to end up getting at some point

I agree, perhaps they are symbol of his power or something. Lets hope he doesnt get anymore powerful, or he will seriously have trouble seeing around him in battle. Automatically Appended Next Post: Usually I don't touch miniatures I have deemed finished, but since I didn't receive my order of the rest of the army yet, I decided to add some detail to Vlad. I painted some gold embroiders on the shoulderplates for added detail, and some shading on his hair, in addition to other minor improvements. (Pic at start of thread.)

I see space marines are not the only ones to succumb to the curse of excessively large shoulder pads.
Although ones that size are usually shown only in fluff pictures, not on the models itself. Leaves me wondering how easy it would be to sneak up on the guy, actually...

I wish pauldrons were a sign of rank in OUR universe.
Great blending and shading. The NMM on the back-plate is especially impressive.

I noticed that after a few games, some of the paint had been chipped of Vladimir. I made a decision to dip the miniatures I actively play with from now on, as they can take a lot more punishment, take little time to do, and still look decent on the table. I never paint my gaming miniatures in the level of a display diorama anyway, so why waste the time. I'll save the serious painting for a showcase display piece, if I sometime decide to make one. Anyways, some Khador done!
Great Bears of Gallowswood.
Greylords Ternion.
Beast-09.
Man-O-War Drakhun.
Yuri The Axe.
The whole gang. I used around 5 different paints for them all, and none of them took more than 3 hours to finish from the undercoat. Easy, fast, and looks decent enough on the table. Still to come: Devastator, War Dog, Kayazy Assassins, Widowmakers and some little else. Hope you enjoy.
In Soviet Khador, horses are bigger than Warjacks.

They look really great, especially when you consider how fast you've painted them. The red coats on the widowmakers are bit much for me, but the scheme works well on the other figs.
Thanks for sharing.

The Butcher:
And with this, the army is finished:
Should do with these for a while. Only around 13 hours of painting, and the project done.
Thanks for your comments, hope you digg.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |
