Where does the average wargamer get his hobby on? I've seen a bewildering variety of set-ups both large and small and I'd like to hear how Dakka does it.

I, for one, started with a few models crammed onto my cluttered desk. Deciding it would be nice to spread out for a change, I cleaned out a storage room in my house and turned it into a dedicated hobby room; my madness is now spread over 27' of countertop with separate stations for each stage of modeling, a shelf dedicated to my various bitz boxes, and a 3x5' gaming table. My army is currently displayed in a corner of the worktable but it's fast outgrowing the space and will probably get a dedicated shelf with a nice tiered display modeled on their homeworld.

I have a 'work-desk' made out of a pizzabox and various other things, most of the time though I just build things where I can, and as for storage space I have a gaming bag thing, I need to get a more professional one, but AFTER i get better at all this stuff.

I work on a small desk in the dining room, its there for to reasons.

1. Cause there was no room anywhere else.
2. There is a big heat duct in near my desk and it keeps me warm during the winter.

But I plan on moving my desk into the Foyer where I have more room once I move the junk outta it.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I've got a bit of an L block going on with my PC, Xbox/TV, and work desk area. Unfortunately my Warhams take up only the small bit of the L, so they're pretty crowded. I keep army cases in my closet.

I have a 4' x 6' table set up in the other half of my bedroom, supported by a couple of desks that hold painting and modeling supplies. It is usually a mess, but I can clear it off quick if I need to set up my armies for inspection. I find it much easier to puzzle out a new army list concept if I can have the specific array of troops in front of me. I just need to find a way to keep my cats off of it.

I've been building in my hobby room at home and painting a squad a week at my local GW on private club night.
It's the only way I can get motivated to paint my hordes of nids.

I have claimed the loft of our cabin, but due to the angled roof I cannot do anything more than kneel on the ground! My desk is more the height of a coffee table, and is constructed out of a storage tub with a painting tray I constructed (similar to the one GW produces) placed on top. I have a myriad of short drawers and shelves lining the "walls" (where the angled roof meets the floor of the loft, that is).

Next summer, we are building on an addition that should get me out of the loft when I want to play a game... hopefully we can get a table at that time!

Been restricted to a smallish space in my room, so I am "conquering" the kitchen table to glue and paint often.

Sometimes moving into the garden ( summer ) for painting.
Airbrush usually done in the loft.

I either work in a chair in the living room in front of the TV, or in the study.
My finished models are either in a display case or in boxes/carry cases in the study.
The study's new, took the eldest kid to leave home (about time too) for me to turn it into one.

Got a computer desk and a bunch of shelves in an unused room of the house. It's working out well - lots of light and space, but the heating duct is damaged so it's a bit chilly out there. Going to be splitting it into a utility/laundry room + bedroom so it's days are numbered I'm afraid (well, I'll have a year or so, but plan ahead!).

Basement is mine to do as I see fit so I've been cleaning it up. Had some flood damage but I almost have everything torn down to studs and cleaned. I'm debating how exactly to set it up. Right now there's a modest 12x12 room I'm thinking of turning into a gaming area, but I'll admit the thought has crossed my mind to tear out the wall and get a 36 x 12 area for nerdy excesses.

My wife was kind enough to donate my basement to my geeking cause. More like, when we moved in she said to the "man den" you go, and don't bring your little men up to the dining room table anymore....I have a rather large painting table, and an 8x4 gaming table. I have plenty of room (3 book shelves) to store terrain, and armies that are either finished or in the process of being finished. My friends hate me for having such a cool wife....but in reality she just didn't want my toys spilling out into the rest of the house....lucky me.

Hope is the first step on the path to disappointment."

I work at my desk at work. I can get up to 10-16 hours of work in a week. But alas my eyes aren't what they were, so it's about 3-5 instead.
