I'm rather thrilled with them. Sets like this will be most excellent in making horde armies, and having a core to build onto the more exciting units.

I picked up some ghouls from GW a few months back, and while they were alright minis, no way were they worth 35 bucks. I can't see Gw skellies being much more rewarding, nor can I see spending hundreds of bucks on the cores of the army. I'm want a casual price for wargaming, not a 500 dollar investment.

I'd forecast grand things for Mantic, epic even. I think they'll have a well timed series of releases with the upcoming orc/gobbo army early in 8th edition (speculation), and their minis will find other niches as well.

Links would be useful.

But then again, I doubt you're anything but a spambot for Mantic.

And if you want a "casual price for wargaming", you're in the wrong hobby.

Period.

My bad. Internet incompetent at this hour.

I agree, somewhat. By casual price, I was more referring to WHFB and the retail pricing of the core units. I'd really like to build a WHFB in a non-tourney, DIY-as-possible way, and I would love to find plastics to use with Reaper-made heroes. Kablammo, undead army.

This is my first crack at a GW-game army in a long time, and I haven't even tried WHFB's recent edition yet. That's where I'm coming from as a casual gamer, a well read n00b.

By the way, I'd prefer this not to turn into a GW bash. I'm posting it as a positive to another company. I kind of let the weasel out of the bag, but I'd prefer to keep GW's scheme out of the current discussion. It tires me infinitely.

Welcome to dakka, where everyone is so friendly!

I took a look at the skeletons, and like them. I just got an order of all the elven boxes in for my shop, and will be getting triple the amount of undead, partly because I want some for myself.)

These look good, and have a decent price on them.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Whoa, whoa.

Let's step back.

Whilst I can agree that this post is full of bias against GW and definitely reeks of FANBOI-ism, these mini's are fairly priced and of pretty good quality.

But they've released like, 1-2 armies, how in the hell is that some kinda epic achievement???

I didn't mean to be rude, Kennedy. There are times where we get some of the standard botter fare. You know how it can be in that regards.

But links are always important, especially when you're advertising something in N&R.

It's not an epic achievement, but it's just a good company to keep an eye on. But if they ever make really awesome goblins or some kit that is of insane demand, that would be an underdog moment.

Everyone starts somewhere.

Thanks for the heads-up, Dead_Kennedy. I think these look great. I'd like to see their entire undead range painted up actually. The price is nice as well. Can't wait to see more!

The owner of my FLGS gave me a couple of the Elves to paint and bring back ovet the weekend, and they're TINY! Not only are they true 25MM scale, but they are the short Elves, like Elves used to be in D&D. They look good, though and for troops have just the right amount of detail. They are as skinny as Elves should be, so a protective case is a must to protect them. I hope, however that if they do a Humanoids army that it's not just Orcs and Goblins. I also wanna see Trolls, Ogres and Giants at the minimum, and perhaps Gnolls, Bugbears and Kobolds. I hope they also come out with their own wargame rules, though these figs would work perfectly with the AD&D second edition Battlesystem rules.

Which is true.

However, I do not see how that makes it an epic achievement. That does not provide a basis for some kind of epic foresight.

It is quite a great one, though.

Something else I ate on the internet and forgot about.

Very neat ghouls. Perfect for conversions, and other horrible plans.

Probably Polish, judging by the website URL.

Though for Zombies I think they are too dynamic... I like the shambling horde, personally. But yeah you're right that they would work well for Ghouls, methinks.

Thanks. Perhaps they'll include an English version for those of us too lazy to do a word-by word translation. The Zombies do look good, though. Yes, they should be shambling, but they also should have some menace, a look of hunger to them.

Anybody putting together a nice sprue of models, while not necessarily epic, is no joke. An styrene injection mold is not a small investment.

The sprues look great, I wish them luck, we all benefit for having more options out there for customizations, etc. etc.

WTF is this Kanluwen, you spend 90% of your time on the forums 'valiantly' defending anything and EVERYthing GW does and when someone shows up mentioning another company he gets his ass flamed for it, seriously pal, how much is Uncle Tom Kirby paying you...

I like mantic, shame about the scale, which is too small to incorporate into a heroic 28mm army.

It really is a great time to be a mini gamer, the amount of high-quality plastics coming out is just amazing.

Hey, I apologized!

But it still doesn't change the fact that if you're coming onto a site and trying to wow someone with a new company you've been introduced to, it's a far better idea to have links to all their stuff.

And I wish Uncle Kirby was paying me. I could start my Elysian force and my Kasr table :(

No worries guys, feelings unhurt.

I'm wondering how the scale for these matches up against 28 mm heroic standard. The elves weren't very beefy, but somehow I think I'd be more willing to accept a smaller skeleton. I'm sure Beasts of War will do a solid review when they come out.

I'm halfway to collecting a VC army now, and I really hope these will be the magic missle that gives me the core. Everything else is there, I just need to fill out the bodies area.

Now, what saddened me is that in the video he stated that Necromancers wouldn't raise dead from a graveyard.

Does this mean no accompanying Zombies?

If they were, I'd be one happy camper. Cos I'd get massive rank and file from these guys and the characters from gamezone miniatures. But on the review in this forum for the elves, they were tiny lined up against the GW ones. I needs affordable multi-part rank and file plastics for fantasy armies, in fact, the market is crying out for them. A company could comfortably make them and profit at half the price GW flogs em at, look at wargames factory's historicals.

The Elves are quite puny. Fragile, almost.

A shame, but they still look quite fine.

there will be zombies. i mean, freshly dead on a battlefield do help turn the tide after your army has killed them..

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Am impressed with what I've seen from Mantic so far. Will wait for a side by side comparison for the undead. If they scale up ok then I can see a great way to bolster the missus' vamp army.

The socket bases on Mantic minis is a little bit smaller than the standard GW base, IIRC. In the review for the elves, I remember it being a touch smaller. On the plus side, putting the round base part on a standard warhammer base and building up around it might draw attention away from their (possible) shortness.
