I can see playing 40k on that new board...
'ok, my leman russ shoots it battlecannon, unfortunately due to gravity it scatters 300D6" behind the unit. The leman russ is then propelled 80" backwards per turn thanks to the lack of gravity and air resistance.'

How the heck are you getting such clean cuts on the foam-core? Even with a nice sharp knife I'm having difficulty not mucking up the foam (maybe the foamcore I have just sucks...).

My local shop ran a Speed Painting competition on Jan 31st. Here's my entry:
I ended up winning it in the end after one hell of an hour of painting. And for my efforts got a $15 gift certificate for the shop. Which helped pay for my Sterguard unit for my Sons of Medusa! Can't wait to get them together ^_-...

Answer the question: how do you get clean cuts on foam core?
Do you just replace blades constantly, use a metal edge and make multiple cuts? Or
do you have a secret?

Heh, my bad, I totally missed that one x.x...
You have to do multiple cuts with a clean (see: new/newer) blade. First cut the top card layer then cut the foam in many light cuts and finally cut through the card on the other side, and TADA! Clean foamcore cuts ^_-.

Actually he is finished. But the image of a grizzled vet who's eyes you can't make out from the squint, ala clint, I felt really played well.
So style choice here. But one I stand by.

He could be, but most likely will not be. He's just a one off that I am actually considering selling off once he's finished. A test of the waters if you will.
I'll also be trying to keep up with how I paint him more for an article to be posted on The Painting Corps. Those who follow my blogs however will be privy to much of the info as I finish it!
But really it's all about the local painting contest, and painting this guy to a standard that will win ^_-.

Crisis_Saint, Thank you for the compliment. Smoothness mostly comes from keeping your paint thinned and using multiple thin layers for each color to build up to a nice opaque finish. Using water or actual thinner medium mixed into your paint on a palette is a good place to start.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Some progress on the Chaplain:
The head is finished, but that's it. I've gotten some more work since this photo done, but just more of the bone color. Nothing super exciting, and my ambient light faded on me when the sun went down.
C&C welcome as always, and more photos will be inbound as I finish more on the model!
