So now that I'm getting into the hobby as Orks, I need a goal plan for how I want to start off.

I've decided that I want a shooty foot sloggin' army. I'd like to start with a 1000 point army list that is at LEAST semi-competitive. Or at least one that I can play with as I learn the ropes of the game. (I'm pretty much brand new as I've forgotten everything about the game)

This is the current list based on what I have available so far (I've been collecting models steadily via swap shop and ebay)

GREEN TIDE TOTAL: 969
Wargear # of Models
Big Mek 1
KFF
PK
Total:

Weirdboy
Warphead
Total:

HQ Total: 195

Boyz 60
Shoota
Big Shoota
Nob
Nob PK

Gretchin 28
Runtherd 2

Deffkoptas 4
TL Rokkit 2
Buzzsaw 2

Total: 210

The general idea naturally is for the gretchins to provide cover for the shoota boyz as they move in for the assault. The Big Mek with KFF is there for CC support and also to reduce casualties if the boyz can't get into the fray before the gretchins all eat it. The Warphead Weirdboy is there to assist in blasting things as well as the occasional waaghh.

I wasn't sure about the Deffkoptas, but I put them in as a substitute for lootas (probably not an equal substitute but I have koptas on hand, no lootas) I was thinking of putting them in squads of 2, mixing the weapons up (1 buzzsaw and 1 TL rokkit kopta in each). I was hoping these could serve as flanking/armor hunters since that is usually the lootas job from what I understand?

Any suggestions to improve the list, tactics or anything really would be most appreciated.
Also if someone could help me make sure it's legal that would be cool. I think the points are added up correctly

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

You're *really* unlikely to see land raiders at 1,000 points, so keep the Lootas.

I think the basic premise of an ork shooty list starts with Lootas and expands from there. Three squads of Lootas form the premise of a shooting army and you go from there. If you've got the concept of gretchin providing 4+ cover saves, the KFF mek is redundant and unnecessary. In fact, he's the last thing you want for close combat support. Get Old Zogwort. Get a warboss. Get a Big Mek with a SAG.

Holy flakking Mork, take the individual point costs off of your list.

I mean, honestly.

Not sure what the problem is, but whatever. They've been removed. Thanks for the constructive help!

If you are going to keep them I think the Deffkoptas will give you more mileage if you give all of them TL Rokkits, since you're going to hunt tanks. 20 points isn't that expensive!

Paintin' the green tide... one Ork at a time.

The problem is that GW is notoriously aggressive about protecting copyright, which apparently extends to the individual points cost of models. You can give totals, but not list points out by model/piece of wargear. Why? Not sure. Just roll with it.

A couple of points;

-You seem to have given only 1 Nob a PK. YOu should give both of them one, it's extremely useful.

-The purpose of a KFF Mek is not to be in close combat; if you're fighting with him, something has gone wrong. He doesn't need a PK. You might, however, give him a burna; it counts as a power weapon in assault, it gives you a template, and it's cheaper than the PK.

-If you're going for a horde list, you need more boyz. A 1000 point horde can easily have 90 boyz with plenty of room for other fun stuff, like anti-tank power. I would suggest replacing the koptas with 3x Wartraks with TL rokkits, and adding another squad of 30 shootas. A 30-strong mob with a PK Nob only costs 220 points, after all, no reason not to have lots!

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up.
