I've been given a challenge, to replicate a very well made figure, it has lots of very fine chain on it and that's one thing I think could be tricky to do.

So, how would you go about sculpting very fine chains?

Before any one suggests it, I can't us real fine link chain!

I therefore open the floor.

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

You may need to scale these down depending on how fine you want the chain.

Honestly, I would just buy fine chain and paint it up to look busted up.

You have me there with this one.

The only thing I can think of is making really thin sausage rolls of GS and then just cut and bend. To get a uniform shape I would use a reall small plastice rod or nail coated with vaseline or similer product so the GS does not stick to the nail or plastic. from there you can then just piece it together like chainmail. THis is the only way I can think of doing this without buying fine chain. Time consuming but should work.

If you're sculpting on the model I would start with the flat links on the model like so:

0000000000

and then roll out a fine rod of greenstuff and connect the links. Bend the cut up tube into half-links to connect them ))))
If it's loose you're crazy for even attempting it.

Hey.

This chain is available at your local hobbie store. It doesn't cost more then 3 or 4 dollers for it, either. You can get different guages, lengths, etc.

Hobby shops, Craft shops, Michaels, the Hobby Lobby, anywhere that has craft stuff.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Some very nice stuff there, and greatly appreciated!

Exactly the kind of excellent stuff I was expecting.

I have to second recommendation of the insaniak way; Ive used it, it is a simple and effective technique, and it looks good when finished.
