Just joined a few days ago to make a battle report http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/268625.page. Thought I'd introduce myself.
My son, WraithgodSchmity, started 40k at school in '08. He kept asking for ideas and I had no idea what the game's rules were, so my advice was useless I'm sure. Finally, over the '08 Christmas break I sat down with the rulebook, which had been one of his Christmas presents. By the end of the break I'd picked up a warrior squad, painted it up and we started gaming at home. For my own army, I now have a 2100 point Necron army. One of my hangups is that I can't field an unpainted army. Of course, I'd never done any painting so I just tried something simple for my first attempt. I'll link one of my army shots that I just uploaded to the gallery. In addition to my main Necron army, we got the Assault on Black Reach starter set which I also painted up. I try and help my son out by putting together various small armies so he can practice skirmishes with some new Eldar build before he takes it to games club at school. We both learn quite a bit at this site and very much appreciate the community here.
