I sincerly doubt that the "2012 end of the world" will be any more spectacular than the " 1999 Y2K end of the world" was.
However,in the spirit of the thread,I'll have to say I'm honestly wishing for zombies...I'm sure that comes as a HUGE suprise.

I think that it's the date when the Greys will finally speak openly of their plans for us. They will take all those whom they deem worthy and set the zombies on the rest of us so that we won't trouble them any more.

On the 20th of December, 2012, GW will call for an emergancy press realease.

No words are spoken, but JJ will hold something above his head. There is a light shining on it, which makes it hard to see, but it the flashes from cameras reveal it's identity. The new Dark Eldar codex. One reporter yells out "OMMFG it's the new Dark Eldarz CODEX!!!!". As he finishes saying this, lightning strikes the codex, setting it on fire. The ashes fall to the ground next to JJ, who stares at it for a moment, then runs away from it. There is is confusion in the crowd of 6 or 7 people.

Then out of the ashes of the codex, rise giant DE Greens, who then destroy much of humanity. With lots of explosions and the like.

Well, duh. December 23rd, 2012 will be a fine day for old codices - Daemonhunters, Necrons, and Dark Eldar will all get their new codex on that day. The world will implode just to stop those players from becoming competitive in 5th Edition.

I think the first groups of emo furries will appear at the end of 2012. The pure hate that will be spawned towards them will overload the internet and give it a gestalt conciousness of purest scorn to all of humanity. And then, our days will be numbered.

Or they release the forge world warlord titan, but t turns out to be truescale.

OR, it just coincides with the release of the last twilight movie.

All three are probably linked. Last Twilight movie is the spark needed to set off the internet into raging so much it gains conciousness. Then the Warlord titan will appear because cables and normal computers are smashy enough and it needs to be smashy. Plus there will be zombies, cause its always zombies.

I don't think it will especially because(the history channel talked about this the other day, as well as my old college prof) accoarding to the calendar the world has had major changes already multiple times over. All the wording really is is that the world will have a major event to change it. Now if you want to interp. that as being the end well have at it hoss.

The last Mayan will create a new Mayan calendar. Although it will not have as long of a life as the previous edition, it will feature stone sculptures of swimsuit models visible from space. The world will hail it as a travesty and an affront to good taste- but sales will be extremely high. With his hard earned cash, the Mayan will take himself and a harem of his former models to Mars to begin his next calendar- 2001- a space odyssey (in bikinis). The lack of regulation on mars will lead this effort to include far fewer bikinis than the title would suggest. Sales will triple, and no one under 18 will be allowed to view Mars through a telescope.

There is a prophecy told thousands years ago by the ancient Mayas that says that the salvation in 2012 will come in the form of some tactical genius CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!

I like to think this is the most likely explanation.
