At my local GW i came across an employee working on what appeared to be the 5th edition nid battleset. From what I can tell it seems identical to the 3rd edition battleset for nids. Has anyone else seen this or are they different?

If you mean battleforce then the answer is both yes and no.
Yes, the sculpts in the new battleforce are identical.
No, the contents of the new battleforce is different.

New force contains
3 Warriors

The new one seems slightly better for nidzilla players who don't need another carnifex. It's not great value apart from that.
