I have checked the BGB but I'm pretty sure I've missed a key bit .. just cant seem to find it. My question is; What different unit types can join other unit types. For example, Can a space marine captain on a bike join a squad of infantry tactical marines? Could a thunderwolf mounted space wolf lord join a squad of fenrisian wolf beast units? Could a biker IC join a squad of cavalry/beasts? Thanks

Any IC with a ride ( bike or creature ) may still join any unit you've described ( infantry, beasts, cavalry ) as those are not vehicle squads,or units consisting of only 1 model ( except other IC's ).
But can doesnt mean he / she should.....

Right, awesome.. so there could well be differances in the charge/movement/fleet speeds of the different models, they would travel at the slowest rate.. but its not prohibative.

Right?
Just thinking about a dude on a thunderwolf leading some fenrisian wolves, sadly it cant be the more useful characters (Wolf priest), but LD10 wolves with massed str4 I5 attacks with a HQ's powerfist/str6 frost aze punch.. could be good.
A biker wolf priest could join beasts/cavlary and not slow them down, moving out of coherency during the movement phase to allow for a 12" charge (as-well as a 12" move for the bike) but then the wolves arent benefiting from the IC when they need it.
Danke.
