So for those who will be playing Tyranids and using a Tyranid drop pod (what is the official name in English called?) what will you use? How will it look? I like someone said a "pineapple" so now I can't get that out of my head

So what do you guys plan on doing? Any ideas? I almost can see using the LotR mini watch in the deep or what ever it's called, with it's tenticles, not shure how big or small that is.

So any idea guys and girls? What do you plan on doing and using?

Going to probably get a styrofoam sphere from an art store and hollow parts of it out. Cheapest solution I can think of until real models come out (assuming they do).

I don't want to post the pic but this is what i'm going to be using. They are 7" tall and seem to have a solid base as well as looking suitably alien. Spray painting them black and then painting them up to my army color should make it work. I'm thinking about attaching them to a 60mm if it's possible. I ordered 3 since they were so cheap

Not taking away from some creative ideas that will stem from this, but I foresee a lot of pre Space Marine drop pod craziness:

ashtrays
coke cans
soda bottles
templates

Yay.... GW, I hope you are going to make a model for this and soon. You're losing money each day you don't have one for sale.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Potted Plants...
You know, that's been done in my area.

The Strawberry Shortcake Marines had their Venerable Dreadnought use a Potted Plant as the drop pod, bright pink, butterflies all over it, with bolters around the rim to represent the Launcher system...

Yea...

I'm a fan of the pineapple idea. saying that if i got a wax one, painted it to match the colour scheme of my nids and then stuck some spare gribbly bits on it might not look that bad. hmm i'll have to start raiding charity shops for oap's discarded wax fruit

Once more down to the beach, dear friends, once more,
To drown our sorrows with our English beer!
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of alcohol blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.

When you said the first bit I thought you were referring to an actual, edible pineapple. And was trying to work out how on earth you'd get that to work on the tabletop without rotting or dripping or otherwise being impractical.

How big is that figure, anyway? I've seen a few pictures of one but never with anything included to indicate approximate size.

Yes it's a drop pod, but called, spore something or what not. I didn't care for the name so it dosn't stick to me. Rumour is you can have 20 gaunts or One MC in there. Once it lands it is imobilzied and is a MC as well. It can carry a few types of weapons and has like tenticles wich is a 6" fire weapon. I am not shure what it's stats are but you might be able to find them in the Tyranid rumouor threads.

Swiping the picture Alex Kolodotschko posted in the Rumor thread. It's the egg thing a Mega Bloks Plasma Hatcher comes in. They sell online for between $7 and $15 it looks like, so really quite affordable, and once painted should look real good even without much of any conversion work.

Yeah, someone on Warseer actually had one painted and it looked pretty awesome. I've already ordered 3 of them to paint up for my lists. Nothing like 3 drop pods for almost have the price of a SM one.

They don't get Drop Pod Assault style rule, so at best they're coming in turn two. If a Lictor was on the table at the start of the turn, it counts as a home beacon though, so they do have a no scatter option in there.

Thanks Buxom, that's the one.

But why do that when for $7 you could have something that looks like it would belong in a tyrannid army like the above. I understand why people had a hard time with the drop pods since there weren't a whole lot of options out there (best one I knew of was the starwars escape pod which wasn't cheap) but this is easy to get and cheap.
