I bought one of the Plasma hatchers - I agree, looks pretty good painted! I dont want to scratch build from foam balls etc, I find it just wont look as nice as the rest of my army. I like the aesthetic aspect of the hobby a lot.

Here's the kicker if you buy the Plasma Hatchers. Are you gonna leave it all closed up, or break it open like the critters were actually Not just hanging on to the outside on the ride down?

ill probably leave it closed - pretend they oozed out of some orifice or something. The interior isnt detailed at all.

This is how i think it will be.

*turn one*
Nyd player fails to bring anything in from reserves/deepstrike

I shoot down a winged Tyrant with one or two lascannon heavy weapon teams,
lots of little bugs die, and Leman Russ Deal several wounds to Warriors

*turn two*
Lictor comes in one a piece of terrain and it stays put

I fail to kill it, and my Leman Russ finishes off the warriors

*turn three*

All three Nyd Drop pods land infront of my tanks, out comes Some Carnifex's and they take out my tanks on the first charge.
The Ranged Tyrant pops my Basilisk with its' Venom cannon

I deal all but 1 wound on the Carnifexs

*turn four*

Carnifexs regen a wound or two and use one of my platoons as snake food

My last lascannon team kills a carnifex

There is no turn five, I am almost tabled, and we rolled to see if the game continued and it didn't.

And that is giving me decent odds.

Something came up to me today. I can't get the idea of the Venus Fly Trap in the movie Little Shop of Horrors. Once I read it has tentacles to attack the enemies, I just see the mouth opening and the tentacles grabbing SM and eating them then. LOL.

Here is a painted plasma catcher next to my carnie. I based it to make it easier to use.

Nice job, well done. I am curious now, what size base is it suppose to be? Is the Spore Drop Pod a Monstourous Creature? I can't remember what the rule says. If so, what is the size of base it is suppose to be?

It's an MC and the base i put it on is the 60mm round. It doesn't specifically have a base size since it's a non released model but i figured since it wasn't a vehicle it needed a base so...voila!

Talk about blocking Line of Site LMFAO . And once it rots you can say it's taking on damage.

Doubled has made the perfect model and a tear to my eye. Now I have found this out and that they are getting a drop pod, which confuses me.

This is good.... isn't it?

I'm using giant plastic easter eggs. Wife gets chocolate, kid gets toys, and I get spore pods, everybody wins!

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

So I'm finally looking to get myself a couple Plasma Hatchers, because I know if I don't I'll regret it, and I found this amusing. Look under the product, at things people who purchased this have also purchased.

That's pretty funny. They're sold out on amazon already. Imagine the suits trying to figure out why the little things suddenly got hot.

Nah, only the under $10 ones are sold out. There's still a couple on Amazon for ~$15.

I kind of like the "plasma hatcher" egg as a starting point. Unfortunately, as I may very well bring Tyranids to Adepticon, I fear it may be a no-go.

Hard to argue that it wouldn't include "significant elements of pre-assembled...models or toys."

Wonder if they'd made an exception in this case. It's clearly a very fitting toy, not like a Tonka Truck or something.

*shrug* I knew I guy with some very nice dinosaur toys a few years back; they were highly suggestive of gargantuan squiggoths. He didn't get to use them.

Sounds like the coconut idea is more tournament-legal, albeit a bit more ridiculous looking. Personally, I've been experimenting with expanding foam gap fillers, but I haven't had any success yet. I'm thinking of going the route of tennis balls that are built up with paper mache.

Mmmm, paper mache....

I recommend gauze to your attention. Tends to be a bit more robust than using paper.

Hm. Good suggestion, but what would I need to use to get rid of the texture? Straight plaster or something?

Somebody should definitely pose this idea to the Adepticon staff and see what they could do. Maybe a painting requirement could be met.
