Ok, I got hold of CoD MW2 on Saturday and proceeded to blast my way through it. Totally loved it and the graphics are awesome. Now the only question I have is regarding the controversial airport mission:

Spoiler:
I personally didn't have a problem with it as I know it's only a game, but having played it I feel it was stuck in to cause controversy. It was justified by people saying that the idea was to reflect real life, that an undercover special ops person may have to do things that they don't like to protect their cover. This I fully understand as Churchill had to do this with Enigma. However, having done the mission it appears that no matter what you did, it didn't affect the outcome, you still got shot. Which makes me wonder why it was put in in the first place.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

It was put in, like you said, to simulate what a real spec ops guy would have done. It wouldn't have changed the outcome because, well if you could, what would be the need for the rest of the missions? that mission was the pivotal point that caused the avalanche that was the rest of MW2.... still an awesome game, tho I didn't play the first one so I didn't get why Shepard was so stuck on killing makarov in the first place. And onlines top notch, simply put!

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

It was all to build the main storyline and set the game out.
It wouldnt work without that 1st mission as there would be no cause.

TBH: I had no problems with it, at the end of the day its just a game.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

I didn't mind that mission, though I made sure I only shot who was shooting at me first

I really loved the single player campaign. I played through it in a whole day on a saturday when I was snowed in first time I ever really felt like I was playing in a movie. between the graphics and the awesome theatrical sounding score and everything.

Agreed. I did kind of go "Oh, holy f**k. This guy is a sadistic bastard." when he unloaded into the first crowd, and proceeded to slaughter his way through the airport. But I wasn't bothered by it. I knew it was relevant to the story in some way, and that all would be explained when I beat the level (And it was - beautifully I might add).

There are people out there that started up with the whole "Videogames are evil hellspawn!" crusade when news of the level got out, but unless you're dense in the skull and can't tell a video game from reality or a negligent parent and you don't pay attention to the M Rated games your underage kids are playing (Not that most kids would shoot up an airport anyway), there's really nothing wrong with the level at all. We see movies about Ethnic cleansing, Nuclear armageddon, and other atrocities all the time, but people don't go screaming bloody murder about that because "It's just a movie". The way I see it, that's a legit arguement here as well. It's just a video game. There was even a warning included, so anyone that wanted to skip the level very well could, at the expense of a slice of plot development.
