Funny story that gets better every time its told around my 40k buds. We were participating in a Tanksgiving event just a month ago, for those who don't know its an event where you field as many tanks, titans, or anything with an armor value that will fit on the table and you proceed to shoot the hell out of the other side. I was running an Ork set up, Stompa, Fighta Bomma, and Battle Wagons; my pals were picked to be on the opposing side and they were running all types of stuff from Tau to IG and Chaos. There were about 15 other players participating and here is where the story takes a hilarious turn. A guy on my team fields a McFarlane action figure with two sets of claws glued to the hands and states that is represents a Claw Stompa, he also fields a couple WWII 1:32 scale modles that were painted red and said one was a Bomma and the other a Wagon... There were almost zero modifications to the models which made it even funnier.
Given that the game was mainly for fun the shop keeper allowed the guy to join, which to be honest... He was on my team, so I didn't care as much as the opposing team and my buds who were livid lol. The "Mcfarlane" Stompa preceded to charge and decimate a portion of the opposing force which partially freed me up to wreak havok on my own. Maybe its funnier when we talk about it, but to see someone put an action figure on the table and call it a titan makes me laugh til this day, not to mention the fact that he did some pretty decent damage which made it even funnier...

I see the humor in that story, and its pretty good.
The worst/best Ive had, was when I first started playing chaos, I took a squad of plague marines to basically soak up fire. Instead they got instakilled by a basilisk that was made from some legos and the earth shaker was made from dried up play doh, on turn 1.
After the game the group laughed, because they told him to stop using this monstrosity months ago, and somehow he kept sneaking it in. It made for a funny moment anyways

My funniest time for me was when I first ran a boomwagon using a toy VW camper as a proxy, failed it's 'don't press dat!' roll every turn until it was killed.
I think the dice-gods were displeased with my proxy

It kinda seems "Unsportsmanlike" to use a proxy that isn't even remotely like the model it's supposed to be. Im mean there are people who take alot of care into their models that are official GW or great "look alikes" and then some smuck comes over with an action figure and calls it a titan.
It just doesn't feel right, even if it is for laughs.

The sad part was the guy was dead serious about it being a Titan... we all just laughed about it...

The other day someone at the LGS was running a broken Predator (huge holes in the front and side, empty sponson mounts, treads half missing) with what looked like a bottle glued to the barrel as a Battlewagon. It was sprayed with a basecoat with some silver randomly splodged on.

I was at this event with Zaryn and was crushed by that checked painted spawn TOY...
This guy put it on the table and claimed it to be a looted dark eldar titan, but once it got into hand to hand
it magically shape shifted into a claw stampa... Imagine that. It was 7 inches tall and had no base what so ever...
7 inches tall!!!!
