I know of two popular styles;

Auto-Cannon
Two Las Sponsons

Auto-Cannon
Two Heavy Bolter Sponsons

Obviously, one is AT other is dakka. I'm making a Scars list and building around fluff...I'm searching for some heresy era AT in the Heavy Support. I was taking Preds with Twink Linked Las Turret (No sponsons due to Scars fluff)....and they perform well but one weapon destroyed and they're scrap.

Any ideas? Using the Wolves dex by the way.

Well, I would be forced to buy them a rhino to match the Scars "Born in the saddle" fluff. I considered taking two devs w/ ML loaded in a rhino...but I don't know if an AV 11 2 ML shooting vehicle is superior to a twin linked las pred?

I don't know what any of the above means

lol, sorry.

The White Scars are always mounted up on either bikes or transports. So, I can't take Long Fangs/Devs on foot, as it would screw with my theme/fluff...so options are;

3 Long Fangs in a Rhino with 2 Missile Launchers (Pop the hatch, shoot two different targets) = 100 pts

Or

Predator with Twin Linked Las Cannon = 105 pts

Pros:

Long Fangs would need to lose the rhino, then lose wounds before they lost effectiveness.
Predator with Twin Linked Las is deadly to transports

Cons:

Long Fangs rhino is easy to pop, can't move/shoot
Predator can suffer one weapon destroyed and be useless

Thoughts?

If all you want is a TL-Las turret, you might as well put it on a Razorback. Sure, you drop some AV, but Predators aren't exactly bulletproof to begin with. You spend only a little more than half the price on the thing, AND you can transport guys in it.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Good call, I could add a Razor to the five man squad sitting on my objective and the Wolf Guard squad (Which will be attached to Grey Hunters anyways). So....are twin linked predators worth it at all then? After I add two razorback las tanks....that leaves me 200ish points to play with. I was thinking two squads of Long Fangs equipped;

1 Sarg
2 ML
Rhino

1 Sarg
2 ML
Rhino

That should give me;

2 Twin Linked Las
4 ML shots
----can engage 6 different targets each turn if needed

then at short range;

4 meltas

Razorback's only been in service for 4, 000 years, according to the SM 'dex, so it doesn't sit well with your Heresy-era fluff.

Click for a Relictors short story: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/412814.page

And the sequels HERE and HERE

Final part's up HERE

Doh, I thought it was pre-heresy...but looking at the Lexicanum you're right...it's post. Well, that was a good idea though.

I guess squatting Long Fangs in Rhinos is the way to go then. I was going to do twin linked las Preds...but seems like one weapon destroyed would make the tank useless.

well there have been notes of razorbacks pre heresy, I read that in one of my older codex's, when the space marines needed a rhino to charge the heretic marines in a fast attack fight they needed some fire power to survive untill close quarters, and so the mounted a few different heavy weapons on the roofs, like plasma cannons and heavy bolters, not sure if that'll be worth full info but i hope that it'll help you.

infantry wins gunfights! tanks wins battles! but artillery wins wars! and so do i
