Oi, greetinz an' salutashuns!
I've been kicking around two different speed freeks lists and I can't decide on which one to go for since I've only played them both in proxy and enjoy them both. Before I start buying models I'd love to hear some opinions from my fellow dakkalites. Anyone who has experience playing theswae types of armies or ways to make them better I'd love some input.
Brakka'z Bikka Boyz
Warboss Brakka 'Eadcrusha - 155
warbike, power klaw, bosspole, slugga, cybork body and attack squig
Wazzdakka Gutsmek - as listed of course - 180
Nob Bikers - 560
7 nobz (4 power klaws, 3 big choppas) and painboy, cybork bodies, 1x waaagh banner
4x Warbiker mobz - 240 each
7 warbikers, 1 biker nob with power klaw and bosspole
total 1850
OR
Gutstompa's Boyz
Warboss Krazka Gutstompa - 120
'eavy armor, power klaw, shoota, cybork body, bosspole, attack squig
riding with nobz
Nobz - 509
8 nobz (5 big choppas, 3 power klaws) 1 painboy (grot orderly), cybork bodies, waaagh banner, stikkbombs
Battlewagon with 1x big shoota, deff rolla, boarding plank and red paint
Big Mek Razzagash - 105
(burna, kustom force field)
riding with burna boyz
12 burna boyz - 180
Battlewagon - 120 (1x big shoota, deff rolla and red paint)
3x Trukk boy squads - 167 each
11 boyz with sluggas and choppas, nob with power klaw and bosspole
Trukk with red paint, big shoota, boarding plank and wreckin' ball
2x Trukk boy squads - 157 each
11 boyz with shootas, nob with power klaw and bosspole
Trukk with red paint, big shoota and boarding plank
There, any help would be appreciated.

I think list 2 is better. Why not put the burna boyz in a trukk though? You'd have to knock them down to 11 but it would save lots of points. I'd try and fit some deffkoptas in if possible.

You can't, trukks are not dedicated transport for Burnas, although you can put your Nobs in a trukk

Definitely put the burnas in the Battlewagon.
List 1 is sweet too, but those bikes stand to get mowed down way too fast. Bikers are usually the first to go when I run my Speed Freeks and if that's all you have, any shooty army is going to make short work of those bikes.

I figured T5 with a 4+ armor and 4+ cover should help them survive the one or two turns it'll take me to get there. As far as Deff Koptas go, I've taken four of them in seven games and they have NEVER EVER even come close to paying for themselves. The only useful thing they've ever done is kill one dreadnaught, in 3 turns of shooting. Then they got minced by another one. Every other time they get shot to pieces or barely manage to kill a squad of firewarriors in cc before getting blasted apart by crisis suits. I'd figure just having my nobz and warboss in a trukk is a recipe for getting it obliterated out from under them. I like the AV14 and keep it close to the sister battlewagon to get the KFF save until we hit the enemy lines. Then I'd split up the forces and attack my two highest profile enemies.

Remember, you don't have to tell anyone which trukk has the nobz and warboss. With five trukks in your army list, its only a one in five chance.

Actually, he's supposed to if asked.

Yeah, our gaming group says that if we're asked we're supposed to tell... which means a hell of a lot of railguns, lascannons and other heavy ordnance is gonna focus on this one poor little, AV10 open topped Trukk. And while it's great fun to see it careen all over the battlefield like a ferret on speed, losing my warboss and Nobz is not something I like doing early game.

As a general rule/nice gesture, I always put one of the models from each trukk on top of it. It helps me remember what is in each one, too.

As do I, which again, leads to some roasty-toasty Nobz in short order. So I figured a battlewagon with a nearby kff would keep them safe despite the extra points.

Ferrett on speed? Where? Trukks for warboss/Nobz is personally not a personal fave of mine. I'd put them in a battlewagon.

List 1: Warbikker mobs are going to break often. Nob Bikers need more nobz. Nob Biker units now take a lot of fire in games as most players are now either quite aware of their reputation as uber units, or actually understand what it takes to kill them.
List 2: Wrecking Balls not good upgrade, extra armour better.
|
Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
