Hey I love the scout space marine models and I was wondering what they are good for besides sniping and holding objectives

If you give them ML and get them behind tanks. It's a great tank killer

Use them to precision Deep Strike Terminators. They're also a great assault unit to use on armies like Tau, Imperial Guard, and even Orks (against units like Lootas, etc) if you give them Bolt Pistols, Combat Blades, and a Landspeeder Storm.

But none of this is any reason to give most of them anything but sniper rifles. They're one of the best multi-function units in the game.

I give them shotguns which should i give them close combat or shotguns or boltguns.

If all you're going to do is objective sit, Sniper Rifles.

If you want to use them a bit more dynamically and Outflank/Infiltrate to close in on a gunline army or disrupt fragile objective sitters like Eldar troops or other Scouts, BP/CCW.

Scouts really aren't too bad in CC. Nor are they great, but in general they can mop up a lot of the "soft" objective-sitters that people tend to use for holding backfield objectives.

I use my two five man squad squads as jamming devices for gamers that like to deep strike/ summon reserves in... that extra dice for scatter is great...
Plus a hidden power fist in the squad is great for taking out a really quick like....

thanks for the responses but i am a little confused by them but i am gonna play test a joint strike scout force in my marine army of snipers to pin them down and inflict casualties and then landspeeder storm to carry a five man payload with a PF and CCW's to assault and wipe the squatters out or contest the objective to at least deny them that

Asherian command i kinda don't get the question if you're asking me one

two other ways I've used them to success.

1) 5 man unit of scouts with a powerfist in a land speeder storm. great alpha strike capability and really good against vehicles that have yet to move. Nothing like punching out a leman russ on turn 1.
2) Take shrike and you have infiltrating fleet scouts that can pretty much auto charge on turn 1. Again great alpha strike potential. In my shrike army I usually run at least two ten man squads with powerfists. Hope you find this helpful.

LIke everyone else said, CC scouts in a storm outflanking means jucy targets, or deploy scout move, take first and alpha strike vehicles. They almost always earn back their points. If you want to grab objectives early and force your oppenents to litereally go in after them while dealing with the rest of your army, sniper rifles, with cloaks, and tellion.

It helps if you use a question mark...

I think people underestimate assault Scouts. They're cheap and work well against assault specialists as a speedbump.
The important thing is that you take that Power Fist since that does the most killing anyway.
I like a mix of Shotguns and BP/CCW. Keeps the unit flexible and you can think of Shotguns as I10 S4 attacks on the charge.

Funny thing is Space marines scouts are not even good at sniping. They are how ever decent at assault. I run Assault scouts in a Land Speeder Storm with meltabombs. Very effective
